Major losses in manufacturing led to KC metro employment shrinking quit significantly in August. This should have been an yoy increase month based on pre-Covid stats but instead was a decline month. Many industries in KC saw slowing growth or no growth even. Not good!

Lake City Ammunition Plant in Independence is a primary supplier of small arms ammunition to the US military as well as a huge supplier to the civilian market. I'm sure a lot of Lake City ammo ends up exported to allied militaries around the world.

Can confirm. The Greek military provided ammo for our training once, and it was from the Independence plant

If I saw that list of largest exporting industries (slide 9) and was asked to guess the city, KC would not have been in my top 10 guesses. I guess I've never realized how big that Lake City plant really is.

Lake City is the largest small arms plant in the world. Senator Harry Truman was instrumental in establishing the Lake City plant.
When the Sunflower Ammunition plant near Gardner was still operating, along with Lake City, the KC region was the world's largest producer of ammunition products. The plants produced different types of ammunition.

UMB’s acquisition of a Denver regional bank will propel the new firm to top 50 largest US banks. In terms of bank assets right above John Deere and BNP Paribas. Slightly behind CIBC, Western Bank, and Raymond James.
