I was wondering the same thing. The only two mattress stores that immediately come to mind are on Rawhide and further north at Olathe Pointe, which is probably the location being considered.

edit: Olathe Pointe location: There was a "Prime Sleep" location in the same freestanding building next to the current AT&T store. Looks like there might be 2,500-3,000 sq ft of space available (spitballing), if still empty. I was up at the AT&T store a couple weeks ago, but didn't even look to see if the space next door was still vacant. It's about 2/3 of the total area of the building, so a good size space.

I’m happy to hear that could be the case, because that empty building a glaring eyesore.

There are pad sites available in front of Menards east of Lions Choice. There also a Chipotle in front of academy Sports across the street from Lions Choice. Not sure if it matters to Torchys if there’s another Mexican style restaurant that close.

I can’t see Bell being a factor.

Taco Villa moved out a year or two ago. Relocated to 135/Nieman, or thereabouts.

Taco Bell is over by Olathe Pointe. Yes Taco Villa did move by 135th street and Quviria Road. Chuy's would have effected it. Also Chipotle near by.

8930 Ward Parkway (office just south of WPC) is undergoing at $25 million renovation. This is the scope of the exterior work.
The project proposes replacing windows, installing integrated blast protection, facade repair, site work, including retaining wan, loading dock, landscaping, exterior security and parking.

Neat project. Learned to drive manual in this parking lot. Great to see it filled and that the tunnel will become a pedestrian walkway to the mall.

Weltner Equities is finishing the first element of Leawood Village: a parking garage, which eventually will adjoin a 182-unit apartment building across from Ward Parkway Center. The apartment complex will sit on what was a surface parking lot and green space southwest of State Line Road and 86th Terrace.

When it's finished, the complex also will include 7,000 square feet of office and retail on its first floor, 24 townhomes and three commercial pads.

The developer plans to move dirt on the wrap-around apartment building this month. Construction for the apartment, office and retail portions are supposed to finish by September or October of 2023.
The second phase of building is expected to start in early 2023 and include four, six-unit townhomes that wrap around the apartments on the north and west portion of the site. At that time, the developer also plans to build three commercial pad sites along State Line Road. Both are expected to be finished by the summer of 2023.

In the final phase, the developer will overhaul a roughly 50-year-old vehicular tunnel below State Line Road, making it into an underground pedestrian walkway that will connect users to and from the Ward Parkway Center or the Leawood Village site. The tunnel was previously used for cars to access the surface parking lot.
