Not a fan of flooring on the ceilings. And anything but timeless.

IMHO wood can be a timeless look in both historic and modern structures

2 non aesthetic benefits that I can think of...

noise dampening
carbon neutral/negative
requires less space than a traditional drop ceiling
better fire resistance (CLT) than steel

Don't quite get the indoor fountain. Looks like they had a hole in the ceiling, put up a tarp, and now the rain is pouring through.

Exposed wood ceilings is a design detail in many older buildings. People pay extra to have it.

I bet it's a lot better in person. The sound of the water creating a white noise effect, the fabric moving slightly in the air, the light reflecting off the red of the fabric causing the water to look slightly reddish at the top with glints of sunlight throughout. The shapes of people distorted by the moving water. It could even potentially change in intensity as it flows.

i think it looks pretty sharp. i like the transparency of the terminal and the exterior and interior wood. i'm guessing the fountain will look better in person as well. it's not going to be an iconic building by any stretch of the imagination, but i dig it.

In the presentation they said the fountain isn't designed yet, but since they keep getting asked where it will be they wanted to show the location.

I like it. I've hated the prior renderings but really like these from a materials standpoint. Lighting looks like it will be great and really like the front head on shot.

i've been to maybe 40 airports and, to be honest, other than LAX and DIA, i am not sure i can picture in my mind the exterior of any one of them. i can picture aspects of the interior of a few airports in my mind, but not b/c of striking design--mostly b/c of some bad memory of being delayed and being immersed in a (bland) environment.

i'm biased but i think all the exterior and interior wood sets KCI apart here.

I know people love the “city of fountains” moniker, but i think it’d be better to have a piece of art or even some other amenity in that spot.

I think it could be both in that location and maybe that's what the red roof is trying to represent.

I do think the basement level fountain in the garden is maybe fountain overkill.

I don't think its anything that the public will ever notice. I'd rather the funds go into a nicer indoor fountain.

I really like the windows and sense of openness in the baggage carousel area. Maybe stands out to me because the carousel area in Charlotte's airport feels like a basement.

Is the bridge to the terminals gone now? It looks like it’s just a hallway on the jet path and that jets will have to go around the gate building if going the opposite direction. Would have been cool to be in the bridge and have planes go underneath you.

I agree that is a cool design element. Maybe if the back wall of that was like a water wall it would be more noticeable vs just a standard Barney Allis plaza style fountain.
