While we are sprucing up the airport can we get rid of those awful "fountains" made out of billboard armatures? They are so hillbilly, like planters made out of toilets.

I quite like the aesthetic of them, they could definitely use some refurbishing though

So I have some inside knowledge about the "armature" fountains. The original RFP (in the early 1990s) was for an expensive electronic billboard to flash messaging about KC for cars speeding toward I-29 (a smaller version of this idea was in fact built later), but the Department of Aviation somehow got screwed by the vendor. So they backed off the "sign" and with the remaining funds instead decided to build a cheaper arrivals feature in the form of these fountains.

(My father's architectural engineering practice worked on the site plan for it, which is now the arrivals fountains for the city.)

anybody been inside. Does it feel wide enough? Wide enough for some kiosks down the middle? I remember width of the coordiors was a concern for some. It SEEMS wide enough especially for KCI level traffic.

Check some of the other construction pics, I think it had workers standing there, helps you get a scale of the area

There’s going to be one outside. They couldn’t have one placed inside directly above the baggage handling system, as you can imagine leaks above a system like that aren’t helpful.
