Interested in seeing what they talk about.

We have not learned, refuse to learn, and will push through the exact same thing despite the fact we have no allies

The developers said they have a super majority of council votes.
They need to dump their proposed performance hall space on Broadway. It has nothing to do with the hotel, adds a ton of cost, and locks up a space that should be built into a denser use.KCPowercat wrote: ↑Fri Jun 19, 2020 2:41 pm I agree with the developers in one respect, this isn't a time to just throw the brakes on everything.
I don't agree they need a TIF though.
I can see a Star Bond, Super TIF, spaghetti monster appearing in OP or Leawood. frankly, it makes more financial sense then the American Royal and some of the other new projectsDaveKCMO wrote: ↑Fri Jun 19, 2020 2:38 pmShe also thinks a 5-star hotel would locate in our suburbs.normalthings wrote: ↑Fri Jun 19, 2020 2:05 pm Teresa Loar - suddenly the champion of downtown projects. If the sudden shift in council support is real, do we think it’s possible that this connected to KC 2026? At least in the level of, “WC said this is the 1 thing we are missing over our direct competitor. Let’s get it approved to boost our final push”.normalthings wrote: ↑Fri Jun 19, 2020 2:05 pm Teresa Loar - suddenly the champion of downtown projects. Then why not just say that? Even if that's the motivation, this project does NOT deserve a Super TIF.normalthings wrote: ↑Fri Jun 19, 2020 8:39 pmIf the sudden shift in council support is real, do we think it’s possible that this connected to KC 2026? Pre-corona, decisions were supposed to be coming this year.

My conspiracy theory is some want this to pass so that a public uproar occurs and TIF and other incentives get banned.Riverite wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 7:38 pmI don’t understand how they can be so thick, it honestly would be cool to have but the ridiculous demands will never pass throughDaveKCMO wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 7:30 pm Mayor Lucas is a no. Sounds like an Ordinance has been introduced to end incentives for development except in the most distressed census tracts.normalthings wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 8:41 pmMy conspiracy theory is some want this to pass so that a public uproar occurs and TIF and other incentives get banned.Riverite wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 7:38 pmI don’t understand how they can be so thick, it honestly would be cool to have but the ridiculous demands will never pass throughDaveKCMO wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 7:30 pm Mayor Lucas is a no.
