1. Developer won a judgment against the lender. The developer still needs to collect.
2. Developer has sued the capital advisory for recommending a lender with a history of litigation.
3. Developer is in talks for new financing and it sounds like may have a new development partner.
4. There is a new permit for this site related to the gas lines. Permit wasn't pulled by spire and is most likely just standard work but possible its related to this.

Great news. Spires goon tear up squad is still going hard on Broadway so I'm sure that's what that permit is

Hopefully this means the site will not remain the concrete mess that it currently is much longer.

Everyone, has there been any hint of progress with this? ..Does it remain a hole in the ground without identifying signage?

I’ve heard it’s supposed to restart at the end of the year, sometime in December IIRC

The only sign I've seen of any movement is they reset the pedestrian walkway.

Is 12/1 still a good date for this to restart?

Dropped some pax off at the Hyatt House down here in Austin a few weeks back. Product here looks similar to the product we should be getting in KC. Seemed fairly busy, and there is some pedestrian activation just off the side of the one here, hoping that follows through in the project in KC as well.

The Hyatt footprint is sorely lacking in the KC-land.

It's unclear what might have transpired between Crown Center and Hyatt; but: The presence in KC makes Hyatt seem weak.

Meanwhile, in cities whose hospitality is tested (for example: Chicago, the home base for Hyatt) -- there appears to be an overabundance of product on-offer; with scant demand.

I thought it was well established that Hyatt wanted a deeper renovation than Crown Center was willing to do.

I have a bit of an inside connection on that, and that is more or less what I was told. They wanted CCRC to spend about twice as much as they ended up spending to satisfy Sheraton.

It shows. What a waste of a nice hotel tower that could still easily be a top flag with proper renovations. The Sheraton lobby now feels like a K-mart that you know used to be a Nordstroms. Then you step in the run down elevators and see that the former high end restaurants are now lame lounges and it's depressing.

I have stayed at that Sheraton a few times.

I'm also surprised the Westin has not been downgraded to a base Marriott or something by now. I can't see Westin keeping that flag there much longer without major renovations and better amenities.

and being under Marriott flag helps them sell and remove some overhead expenses but this was done well before that merger.
