Tried out the OP Top Golf and loved it! I read that St. Louis is getting one near their downtown so I started playing with the idea here. The peach rectangle is roughly the length and width of the OP Top Golf. The entrance and "club house" would face main street. What remains of the Home Depot parking lot would hold 320 parking spaces.

While the idea of an urban Top Golf location may be a good thing (for some), I just don’t really like the idea much at all. I live in St. Louis and the thing going around is that Top Golf is looking at a site near SLU in Midtown. That location makes sense since it gives college students something to do. But, I’m not really in favor of it being built there since it holds back the development of that corner as the Chouteau Corridor is slowly transformed into something better.

Your idea falls into the same category. It’s great for those who want it there and would patronize it, but it’s bad for the overall redevelopment of the Main corridor as a result of the streetcar.

Top Golf locations should be left in the suburbs.

Same. Leave that stuff in the 'burbs. Not a good use of valuable urban space.

All of that & Johnson County folks might have to street park & we know how that always works out.

Put the tees on the HD roof and the greens on the Costco roof. Boom.

That and there's a TopGolf "clone" up north now (T-Shotz) with another planned for North Kansas City (Driv). Absolutely no way the metro could support a 3rd or 4th facility like this.

There's about 10,000 golf courses in the US, about one per 33k people

If it's the same scale that would be 60 in the city. I would expect 6-10

Probably a good thing the streetcar extension isn't having a Linwood stop if we are doubling down on the drive-thru 'stroad' nature of the street.

I may never actually go to the Dunkin Donuts, but it seems like it is not a bad get for the area. There are no other DDs in the city core (or even particularly close), so at least it is something unique to the are and I'm sure it will be a draw for some.

The design for this is disappointing. There was a previous drive-through proposal (unidentified tenant) for this spot that seemed much better - street facing, plus a second retail space in the building. This DD is a more typical design - set back with a drive along the sidewalk.

This site was never going to be anything besides a drive-through, so I'm not too mad about it happening. I feel similar mixed-emotions about the dispensary going in across the street (which is going up pretty quickly, and the finishes look pretty decent). Both of these are improvements over the status quo and I am glad to see investment by tenants that will likely be successful. Unfortunately, these seal the fate of that stretch of Linwood, being locked into a more suburban landscape for the foreseeable future.

Chik-Fil-A? Whataburger? Lions Choice? Hawaiian Bros? All of these have recently expanded in the metro but don’t have midtown locations.

Would be better though to wait for streetcar to run through and place such counter eats in streetfront stores along line, not more drivethrus.

Those fast-food restaurants are built to be torn down.

My neighbor just got an $8,000.00 grant from the Glover Plan to fix drainage issues with a french drain encircling 3 sides of the house. This is east of Troost, far from the Midtown Marketplace. So for all its faults, it is still benefiting the inner city.
