Given the ultra-pasteurized suburban mall tenants of other Drake projects, have set low expectations for what an 'entertainment' tenant might mean. Could be a Dick's Sporting Goods with some gaming or a Bubba Gump Shrimp Co with some skeeball or some other Landry 'entertainment' concept.

Would rather see Eataly or something like Little Spain Mercado (market/kiosks along High Line NYC).

At first, I thought the new tower was going to replicate the existing tower. So happy to see that's not the case. The lack of symmetry preserves the imbalance and energy that exists currently. In fact, I think it enhances it.

Lunetta's website has a page referencing a downtown market in KC. Are they tapped to design the proposed market on the west side of River Market?

The surrounding buildings are definitely supposed to be ones on the Plaza

Construction begins on Nordstrom with the fencing off of the construction area and part of the parking garage. Should be a cluster during Plaza Art Fair, with the only entrances on 47th and the side street (Summit?).

Thought that area looked fine. The Nordstrom project seems a definite step backwards in terms of keeping a “theme” for the Plaza. But money always talks.

Yeah I wish they made Nordstrom do something more to keep the Plaza look. The worst part is that the garage behind it will be very visible from down the street! I don't think they have realized that yet. Today the theater is taller than 2 stories there and blocks the garage nicely.

KC has had many bad years through last several decades that didn't impact Plaza. Online shopping is harming shopping centers everywhere and downtown is now the hot place to visit.

The serious crime issues need to be addressed but the Plaza also needs to adapt into broader mixed use, starting with adding residential on top of the garages, which would allow to become less dependent on metro.

Maybe if Plaza hits a new low the current owners will dump the Plaza for a true urban oriented mixed use buyer.

A sign that traditional retail is dying. When banks start taking over retail spaces. It's been happening for years in New York City, and other big cities.

fyi; per the recent bankruptcy filing the forever 21 on the plaza and village west are slated to close

here's the cnbc article that lists all the stores.

this may be a good thing because i always thought forever 21 on the plaza was an odd fit.

Nordstrom Rack would be a good tenant actually. There is one across from the OP Nordstroms.
