Give the food component, “best-in-class” claim, and the size of this place, I wonder if KC’s finally getting an Eataly?

I'm guessing its another 'food hall'. KC really knows how to overdue a trend.

Eataly would be a good fit for Plaza. And nothing wrong with a food hall in most every district. Would like to see food halls adopt $2-$3 sampler taster item(s) though.

are either eataly or a food hall really "entertainment" tenants though?

Of all the buildings on the Plaza that have been threatened with demolition, this oft remuddled ugly ill-proportioned thing I would be happy to lose.

I wouldn't classify them that way, but developers et al play pretty fast and loose with use categories.

Haha just what The Plaza needs more entertainment and amusement. So much for real culture. Buh Bye!

Never thought of that building as 'historic'. Also the Jack Henry connection is not really historic...didn't they move there in the 2000s?

Sounds like a good project either way.

So that's one vote for un-entertaining, un-amusing culture.

10-15 years ago, that would have been considered a premier tenant. But does anybody still go to HRC's any more? The last few times I've walked past one, it's been near empty.

I am not sure why the business journal article would champion the building's historic status and then show a rendering that makes the structure look like a historic building in South Beach Miami without any resemblance to the original structure. That's really not preservation.

Seems safe to say it won't be something as dated as HRC, which is also not at all a fit for Plaza. HRC is more of a P&L or casino crowd type tenant too.

Hard to think of what it could be though.

Luck Strike Lanes?
I believe we had one that failed but this is in a more touristy spot and they tend to go in upscale locations.
