Re: Politics
Regardless of her motives - and The Star connects her moves to a gubernatorial run - I applaud Claire for having the balls to tell Harry Reid she can't support him as minority leader and believes changes are needed.

GOP learns lessons from Sam Brownback's tax scare
Republicans once idolized the tax-cutting superstar; now they look askance at him.

Re: Politics
Bad week for Brownbackistan.
Sam Brownback’s terrible, horrible, no good, very bad 31 hours

http://www.kansascity.com/opinion/opn-c ... 32056.html...Tuesday, the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics released a report showing how jobs had grown in metropolitan areas across America.
Unfortunately for Brownback, the report showed that the Missouri side of the state line had gained jobs at four times the rate of the Kansas side. And yes, that’s after including new employment in Johnson and Wyandotte counties.
...Tuesday, a judicial panel in Shawnee County released a ruling that Kansas was inadequately funding K-12 education.
That could mean the state would need to pump in $500 million extra a year or more to bring schools up to par.
...Wednesday afternoon, Kansas officials released figures showing the state had collected $15 million less than expected in December.

McCaskill declines to run for Gov in 2016. MO Gov mansion seems a good bet to flip to the GOP.

Re: Politics
I don't know who a decent GOP candidate would be for MO governor.
Re: Politics
With the way the demographic are trending, they could probably get by with a mediocre one.
Re: Politics
Rex is buying it for Catherine "Layaway" Hanaway.
Re: Politics
seems like a tossup at this point, Dems hold most statewide offices despite a GOP super majorityKCMax wrote:McCaskill declines to run for Gov in 2016. MO Gov mansion seems a good bet to flip to the GOP.
Re: Politics
if the Republican presidential candidate has enough coattails they might, I don't see them Dem base being enthused by an ex Republican rather than a current Republican, McCaskil seems to doing enough to turn off the Dem basegrovester wrote:With the way the demographic are trending, they could probably get by with a mediocre one.

Re: Politics
Governors do get elected without having held a previous statewide political office--or even served in any elected government office. Rarely, even presidents do.
Ronald Reagan (governor), Arnold Schwarzenegger (governor), George W. Bush (governor), Mitt Romney (governor), Evan Mecham, J. Fife Symington (governors, Arizona), Florida’s Rick Scott and Michigan’s Rick Snyder (governors), Dwight Eisenhower (president). I'm sure there are others I'm not thinking of right now.

Re: Politics
State Auditor Tom Schweich officially announces he's running for Governor of MO. Sets up him vs. Hanaway in the GOP primary. Winner will probably take on Dem AG Chris Koster.
