Dave what’s the reason for the difference in rail between the initial phase and this extension?

T-rail is a more traditional rail, allowing for a deeper track slab. Block rail is good for more shallow depths like over bridges and viaducts. That's why we used block rail on the downtown line, though we have T-rail on the track into our maintenance facility.

No. Vehicle Maintenance Facility for the streetcar. Looks like an expansion of the Singleton facility near the River Market.

Not necessary since there aren’t any bridges to cross until the end of the line near UMKC

What’s the difference? It’s just train track right?

I believe so, both do the same job, just different benefits of each. From same thread:
A couple factors went into it. Block rail was almost exclusively used on the starter line for a shallower depth helping us avoid shallow underground conflicts downtown and reduce loads on the existing three bridges.

T-rail is more common and cost effective and made more sense for the extension. We will be using block rail on the Brush Creek bridge near the Plaza.
Will the flangeway be wider with T-rail? Curious if this affects cycle and scooter riders (who are already cautioned not to ride parallel)
Great question. The flange way will be a tad bit wider...by millimeters.

I heard it said before once by someone but I can't remember the setting.

It's possible and has often been mentioned due to the lengthy schedule contingency the feds require, but no one will know for sure until construction and testing are complete. Too many variables with COVID, supply chain, etc. Keep in mind the most sought-after skills for the job are all done by crews who have to travel to the site and work together -- not exactly a good recipe right now.

What’s include in the testing requirements, is it just for drivers? Or does it include different track & route testing

Anyone with a Star subscription want to summarize the article today: "Some of richest Kansas Citian's live in the street car zone. Why aren't they paying for it"? At the surface, it sounds like the typical create-controversy-where-there-isn't-any article that led me to drop my Star subscription.

Basically only the very east piece of their property and zero buildings are in the 1/3 mile zone. The image they posted does a good job of highlighting that only properties with the majority of their property in the zone were included. I'll see if the image link works here

You nailed it.

I was disappointed by how many amplified it on social media.
