They have been, at least the platforms have. I’d imagine they’ll wait until track is complete to finish out the stops

Are the dedicated streetcar lanes heading south up Liberty Memorial hill and heading north up from 47th because the streetcar will be going slow on the inclines(slower than impatient auto drivers)?

From what the team said it was more so in the event that the vehicles have traction issues there won’t be cars behind that they could possibly slide back into.

At Cleaver, it was also about southbound streetcars having to cross traffic to get to the east side of Main/Brookside.

Which is why the city MUST slow traffic in all directions at Cleaver & Main. It's like Truman Road x 1,000 when it comes to crash risk.

Would removing the one way at Brookside and Ward Parkway help cut traffic at Cleaver and Main? Seems it would allow westbound traffic going to the Plaza to bypass that intersection and slow traffic.

Probably. I'm sure with all of the signals in that one block stretch of Ward Parkway it would cost a million dollars to convert.

Main Street has never been more walkable then it is now with all the construction. Can't wait for this to open + new development alongside.

Agreed. It's a shame there aren't more destinations to walk to yet...

Is this on schedule? We've had a pretty mild winter so far and they've been laying track pretty quickly recently. Looking forward to 2024/2025.

I took a drive down Main today. Track has been set/laid through 36th/37th st heading south. Trenches have been dug through Westport Rd.

Saw they were putting in red concrete for crosswalks at Armour last week, even under the streetcar tracks. Kind of surprised because they’re doing that as they always seem to need torn up later by utilities and they start to look dirty fairly quickly.

It would be nice to see a list of all the TOD construction projects that are ongoing or approved for Main along the route. Obviously, the Katz drug site redevelopment is well on its way and the MAC proposal on Main and Armour which I guess is not a done deal just yet.

Construction, perhaps. You can't run service without vehicles and they don't start arriving until summer.

Am I the only person underwhelmed by the shelter structures for the streetcar stations? Not much better than a typical bus stop. Would like to see something that offers more shade, more enclosure from winter winds. People waiting on transit in KC always look so forlorn.

I agree it would be nice to have a little nicer stop with some better shade and expanded seating areas.

Would also be cool if there were cart vendors, like a hot dog cart, etc. that popped up around the busier locations. These are some of my favorite places to visit in larger cities as they have food vendors right outside of subway entrances, etc.

I was just curious as to how many vehicles the system will have and I guess they are ordering eight more for a total of 14? Wouldn't that be one of the largest in the country?

The yard seems kind of small for that many vehicles even if they expand it, but I guess they have it all figured out.
