St. Regis Apartments Rehab Will Get Financing, Tax Credits

Post by FangKC »

The St. Regis Apartments, on the NE corner of Paseo and Linwood, has been awarded state and federal financing and tax credits to rehabilitate the building into affordable housing for seniors.

that's exactly the kind of thing to give tax credits for

historic rehab, senior living (need to keep cost down for retirees), and in an area needing rejuvination

That building always attracts my attention when going by. Good news to see it updated.

The St. Regis is shining again with its cleaned brick and terra cotta and new windows. Interior completely gutted so it will never again be high end large units, now small senior units. Don't know why it took so long from 2013 to have started the construction late last year.

Looks like they covered up some of the terracotta ornamentation around the windows. Happy to see it used though.

Terra cotta is intact. Think maybe the image you are looking at is washed out.

Goodness, I'm glad this is getting closer to being done. Paseo has been blocked off next to the building for almost FIVE YEARS.

Has this project stalled out? Haven’t seen progress since they tore out the sidewalk on Linwood a few weeks ago.

This project continues to putter along.

Just east of this, a dilapidated old colonnade is getting a new front porch. I'm assuming this means a full building renovation? I hope so. Linwood was once so grand! I bet they are using Historic Tax Credits. All of Kansas City's colonnade-style apartments are eligible for them!

Saved by the cavalry. Thought this would be a tear down. On the St. Regis they have finally poured the sidewalks and are fixing the rotten wood on the penthouse overhangs.
