Independence and Sugar Creek are starting to talk about improving US 24 between I-435 and the Truman Library. Should be a good addition to the redevelopment going on in the Truman Road corridor, Independence Square, and Amoco refinery.

However, Independence needs to be more aggressive with redevelopment. 24 Hwy is in bad shape all the way across the city, from urban decay on the west to shoddy 1960s-era suburban decay on the east. Now that the original 39th St. TIF subsidies are expiring, the city needs put that new revenue into some bolder improvements to keep the other 2/3 of the city from falling apart.
