That would be such a crappy location. They would have to revamp that entire access point to accommodate for that kind of high volume traffic that would implode there.

As the center has never had any traffic, it would be hard to predict. QT and jack in the box will be a test of sorts.

Well, I would think that having the ungodly sales tax revenue you would get from an Ikea would be worth upgrading the access point.

Don't forget Hotel and Car Dealerships to. I would say Ross,Pizza Ranch,Milo's Sandwich Shop,Save A Lot or Whole Foods or so on would go their.
Olathe Gateway would be a good place for it.

Not a bad location for Ikea. Ikea draws on a much more inclusive demographic than something like Crate and Barrel so the central location behooves them. It's next to an interstate which I suspect is a requirement since the IKEA stores I've seen are insanely busy. Even the IKEA where I lived in Norway was suburban and right next to the closest thing they have to an interstate highway.

I was hoping for NKC next to I-35/29 where the grain elevators are coming down. What is NKC plan for that land since they are also trying to condemn an ajacent fast food joint.

Yeah, I still think this goes somewhere in MO regardless. Dream of Kemper Arena becoming Ikea but MO side will beat KS on anything for this.

I imagine Ikea wants to attract customers to the store...not deter them.

The article by the Biz Journal is pretty weak and the Star hasn't backed it up yet. Is there any other indication this is for real?

a friend of mine indicated they are still building out a new distribution center in joliet, IL. perhaps it will come after that...

Maybe 138th Street and Greeenwood Lane because Colliers is selling land know and will have a future road by 138th street.
