An update on this project. It seems to be moving slowly, but there has been some noticeable progress.

Looking west from Woodland at the side and back of the building on E. 8th.

This small retail building is across the street from the Quinlan rowhouses that mostly face Woodland. My only criticism about this Quinlan Row project is that I wish they had added street trees via bump-outs along Woodland. It creates a harsh streetscape as it is. It would soften the street, and also provide passive cooling.

One of the buildings on the north side of the intersection of St. John Avenue at Elmwood has received a new facade. I read on the Northeast Facebook page that the facade became unstable because of something going on underneath the sidewalk.

The link below shows how the building used to appear.

The link below shows the facade removed during construction.

If you like to gawk at historic houses, or visit a neighborhood you don't know, here's your chance.

Historic Northeast Homes Tour returns

All seven properties are within walking distance: 300 Gladstone Blvd (The St. Francis), 435 Gladstone Blvd., 444 Gladstone Blvd., 309 Benton Blvd. (St. Anthony’s Church), 316 Benton Blvd., 516 Benton Blvd., and 430 Benton. The tour will begin at 315 Gladstone Blvd.

Does anyone know what's going on with 611-613 Forest Avenue. Is it being renovated, or demolished? Three additional houses have been demolished on the south end of the block.

This building, 611-613 Forest, is being sold for the land value. The building to the north of it, 609 Forest, that recently suffered a fire, is also being sold for the land value.

Update today on this from City Scene

https://cityscenekc.com/jazz-hill-affor ... the-paseo/
Construction is expected to begin soon on a $33.8 million Jazz Hill project that will renovate 11 historic but derelict apartment buildings on The Paseo near downtown into 197 affordable apartments.

An additional $150,000 for the project was endorsed Wednesday by the City Council Neighborhood, Planning and Development committee, and the full Council is expected to support the appropriation when it meets today.
The project, which is expected to be fully completed by Summer 2024, is being done by the Twelfth Street Heritage Development Corp. and Flaherty & Collins of Indianapolis. Buildings will be opened on a staggered basis as construction is finished.
Beautiful buildings. Glad they will be saved

Those were last renovated in 2000. It's strange that they are considered "derelict" buildings already.

I wish the developers could get some new buildings constructed on vacant parcels around those older buildings as well.

Redevelopment plans presented for Scarritt School site
The Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood Association met Thursday evening to discuss two new development proposals for the currently vacant Scarritt School site located at Lexington and Bales Avenues in the heart of the neighborhood.
...
On Thursday, Shannon Jaax and Jesse Lange, consultants for Kansas City Public School District, announced that two proposals chosen by the district’s repurposing department would be presented, one from Laura McGrew, Principal at 405 Development, that would transform the school site into a creative space for artists. The other proposal, from Exact Architects, would combine community space with affordable and market rate housing.

Is anyone looking for space for a business?

Developers, there are several buildings in the Historic Northeast that need redevelopment.

A proposed mixed-use development for the SE corner of E. 6th Street and Prospect will bring housing and retail to a long-time vacant lot. Two mixed-use buildings will have 78 apartments and around 12,000 square feet of retail facing Prospect Avenue.
