Aixois opening in Commerce Arcade

Post by smh »

Just saw some signs for Aixois Bistro next to the Commerce ATM area in the Arcade. Interesting location choice? Thoughts?

Opening Spring 2012.

If Aixois was jonesing to open a downtown lunch only option, and the space is being provided to them rent-free, then this might make sense.

I still am skepitcal on dinner but the person that told me seemed pretty plugged in to the situation. I hope they just do breakfast and lunch as well. Horrible dinner location.

"Across the street" from 909 Walnut, 1006 Grand, and Walstreet Tower.

If it's really going to be open for dinner I wonder if they will be adding an exterior door, the Arcade doors on that side are normally locked at 6:00.

BTW I walk by this spot every morning and never noticed it was being worked on. :)

In that case, with an outside entrance, could end up being a pretty visible spot. Still...not a lot of dinner activity in that part of the loop...

Yeah not a lot of diners right in the middle of the Financial District.

Still cool to have them in the neighborhood...they have a good name to draw people in.

This is good news. I like DT getting outposts of midtown/countryclub restaurants

Now that Commerce Building and the Arcade...ugg don't get me started. So ugly.

Odd location, but glad to have them coming DT. Would think they'd be a perfect fit in one of the redone restaraunt spaces along Wyandotte near the PAC.

Got confirmation today. Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Full bar.

I'm so confused. Had to have gotten a sweetheart deal.

Can't really understand it. I hope it knocks out the street level windows and puts in and inside/outside cafe area. Those sidewalks are very wide along Walnut.

The only way they will succeed is by catering to the corporate worker. obviously. residents at WallStreet and 909 won't keep this place open. absolutely no way.

So, how do they maximize traffic from workers in an already saturated lunch-only scene? I think they should offer group discount cards to every employer in the Commerce/UMB complexes. Offer cheap coffee and cheap happy hours and make lunch fast and inexpensive. I work in the Commerce Bank Building. If the only option is sit-down +$10 lunch options, I will eat there about once a month, if that.

Alternate spelling for "bistro". More typically seen in France. Final "t" is silent.
