As mentioned on the project update...Argosy renovation is done. $105 million dollars built the second largest gaming floor in the market. They say it's the only real themed gaming floor in KC and in the Midwest.

It will still be at the tail end of the food chain in KC. Ameristar is the market winner and Harrah's has the name.

Argosy will still have the same dirty clientele that drops cigarette ashes all over the place and burns holes in the seats.

The argosy is located close to the poorest sections of KCK, and effectively works at making them poorer, and then giving the money to Missouri. Im sorry if Im not to optimistic about it. I myself suffer from a gambling problem and casinos it seems to me only work at destroying people. Thats why Im against a casino of any kind in KCK.

And let's get rid of unheathly food because of the peeps sufferin' from eating disorders.

I have self-control and love to gamble. I budget exactly what I expect to lose, nothing more. Responsible gamblers shouldn't have to suffer because of people that are weak and compulsive.

Personally, I don't think KCK needs a major casino of it's own...the current metro market cannot handle five. However, I'm 100% for slot machines at the Woodlands as well as the other Kansas tracks.

Dunno... I prefer Reno and Atlantic City when it comes to gambling period. Vegas is Disney, electrifying shows, classy nightclubs, and finally gambling.

Went to the new Argosy tonight. Although it is tacky as expected, I liked it. It's not as overwhelming as Ameristar, but still has a fun vibe to it. It has the Disney walkaround format with an "italian" village. The restaurants, specifically the drab sports bar, needed some help. But the overall casino part and atmosphere is comfortable, but an entertaining spectacle.

I definitely think it is worth going to (not sure how bad it was before) especially if you think Ameristar and Harrahs are too far away. In fact, if I was going to go again, I would probably go to Argosy over Ameristar.

Or better yet, lets allow prostitution and drugs, why ban anything?

Aye, I remember the last time I got a sexually transmitted disease from a video poker machine and almost overdosed at the blackjack table. If someone can't control their compulsive spending, it's their own fault if they go broke. Anyhow, I think I'm gonna go sue another fastfood chain for makin' Americans fat.

Drugs and gambling face the same problem. Addiction. That is what you refuse to understand. Its not like some dont want to stop, its that they cant. If that person has low morals, they might take to stealing to feed the gambling habit. Or they might just put themselves, and their children at risk to lose their home. If you dont believe me, Ill tell you for sure that it is a problem. They cant just stop. Just like not everyone who drinks alcohol is an alcoholic, not all gamblers are addicted.

You think gambling isnt a problem, yet I know some people who put thousands a year into casinos, losing their families, jobs, dignity, and respect. After all who does an addict hurt more than themselves? Maybe their children.

Guess it's a good thing that the casinos offer free help for the weak.

Now I think I'm gonna go sell the family farm so I have enough cash to buy 160,000 or so Kansas Power Ball tickets! I'll win this time, I feel it!

Gambling isn't the problem in this case. Not being able to control yourself is the problem.

Yeah, pretty much. Why ban anything?
