I have 2 of those that I bought from an auction about 12 years ago. They are very cool and have green lenses. They came with high powered focused bulbs and funny wiring, I put regular bulbs in there a while ago. I always thought I'd use them somewhere, but haven't found the right application.
I will take them off your hands for the low price of free.....

I will try to get a picture, but City Hall's roof if lit up in blue and white. One Kansas City Place has a light-blue color on top. There are a few other buildings lit in blue.
Add in the lighted sign on the H&R Block tower is Royals, Sprint Center is lit up blue, Marriott has a Royals thing in the lights on the side. Union Station is blue with a Royals projection. Some fountains are blue. Tower above Cheesecake Factory on the Plaza is blue.

I saw it as far away as I-435 and I-70 as I was coming home from Columbia, Mo, last night, in the rain. It transmits just beautifully and actually helped to balance the skyline out quite well coming in from the east. imo.
One night, it was changing its normal colors.
The next night it was changing from blue to white.
The next night it was just stead blue...even the very top was blue.
Now it's all blue but looks slightly better/brighter.
So my guess is they are playing around with it to see what works and looks best.
am i imagining things, or is the illuminated logo on the west side of the at&t building on oak a recent (january 2017 or so) development? noticed it for the first time this week and feel like i would have noticed it sooner if it had been up for much longer than that.
this is what i remember the west side looking like:
the new logo is towards the top left corner of the facade, off center. it's blue with negative space where the white used to be. i suppose i will try to snap a picture next time i see it, but it is similar to this:
I noticed that a few buildings have been lit in pink/purple the last few days, but I'm stumped trying to think of a reason for it. Anyone know? Or is it just a random majority color choice?
Found a cool old image of the P&L illuminated at night showing how the "balconies" near the ground level were originally intended for holding floodlights, giving the building a much more uniform lighting scheme than today.
The old lighting on the limestone gave it a much more golden warm look and also made the carved ornamentation more visible. Also the red neon in the glass of the lantern brought out the sunburst pattern.
Would anyone happen to know how to find out what the themes are for lighting up the downtown buildings?
I've been on a quest like a nerd to see how the theme is determined and if that info is available to the general public. So far, my research has led me to the Downtown Council. However, it has been difficult trying to find the exact person needed for such an inquiry. So I thought I'd ask KC Rag.
1. How is the nightly theme for downtown lighting determined?
2. Can the general public be notified?
