That's a bit of an odd list - particularly Cleveland at number 2. They tend to be right around the bottom when it comes to population growth (or loss, in their case). Their real estate prices are the lowest of any major metro. Perhaps the low baseline numbers and low numbers of new housing permits are what put them high for the criteria for this list.

Of the 50 largest US Metros, KC has the 10th cheapest avg rent.
The least expensive markets are:

Oklahoma City, Okla. - $982
Louisville, Ky. - $1,167
Birmingham, Ala. - $1,178
Rochester, N.Y. - $1,235
Columbus, Ohio - $1,242
Indianapolis, Ind. - $1,266
Memphis, Tenn. - $1,274
St. Louis, Mo. - $1,279
Cleveland, Ohio - $1,290
Kansas City, Mo./Kan. - $1,298

Renters looking to take advantage of the best possible prices should move quickly. While the rents in these metros are the lowest among the 50 largest, for many of them, prices are increasing at a faster rate than in the rest of the country.

One of only three domestic recommendations. Pretty, pretty, pretty good.

Funny enough, was watching a travel video that included KC and they also said September was the prime month to visit KC. Interesting that people are picking up on that.

Kansas City makes two lists of places to travel in 2024: the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times.

No doubt, soccer reigns supreme: In March, the Kansas City Current will unveil the first stadium built for a National Women’s Soccer League team, and Kansas City holds bragging rights as the sole Midwestern host for the FIFA World Cup 2026. But other headliners abound, with new lures for budding bookworms and adventurers.

Opening in March, the Rabbit hOle museum will showcase a century’s worth of American children’s literature with immersive and interactive exhibits. (In the case of the towering installation for “The Funny Thing,” by Wanda Gág, children will be scrambling to feed “jum-jills” to the “aminal.”) Young thrill-seekers can soar up the new 150-foot-tall KC Wheel at Pennway Point, a new entertainment district. And beginning in April, visitors can get their kicks at Rock Island Bridge, a reimagined railway bridge that will offer dining above with kayaking, canoeing and paddle boarding below.
