It came to my attention on Nextdoor.com that this going before City planning on 2/4.

Simple developer description:

Tim Duggan, Beacon Hill
2000 Vine Street is a proposed mixed use redevelopment of two historic former public works buildings that will include offices, a community event space, small retail spaces, a food incubator and an outdoor music venue space that sits on over an acre of flexible community green space overlooking the downtown skyline.

The general idea is that it would be similar to CrossroadsKC at Grinders.

The original post was from a local resident that said the noise would cause increased blood pressure, heart disease, etc. as well as causing children to become developmentally disabled.

Rumor is that the Crossroads KC outdoor venue would move here, not an addition.

Interesting. That is some valuable property in the Crossroads now. I wonder what Stretch's plans would be.

Sell it?

Invest into a building on his own?

With insane popularity (on nice weekend days) of Bar K they could copy that model there very easily. Mark my words that someone will, especially with Bar K's parking getting squeezed with new construction. in that area.

I would imagine that a developer wants to develop the southeastern half of that block that Grinder's is on, and wants Stretch's outdoor space.

Probably the same resident who was trying to get Lincoln Prep to oppose the project due to proximity to the school.

Thanks KCtoBrooklyn.

Where exactly are the neighbors that are concerned regarding sound? Sounds like traffic is their biggest concern tbh. If you look at the satellite, the area is directly adjacent to railroad tracks for god's sake. I could see the residents of the Vine Street Lofts nearby having some concerns, but again, they live next to railroad tracks. I think with reasonable restrictions this should be approved.

This looks great but things didn't look so good for the development group at the recent City Plan Commission meeting. A fair amount of complaints were raised by the neighbors and the Commission seemed sympathetic. They need to rezone to allow for a venue more than 100 or so. Best of luck to them.
