Boring...
Developer will build $13M Leawood shopping center
The Business Journal
The developer of a $13 million shopping center in Leawood said he expects to start construction in February or March on the southwest corner of 135th Street and Kenneth Parkway.
Tyler Oliver, a principal with Henzlik-Oliver Real Estate Cos. LLC, said the project will include 70,000 square feet of stores, two restaurants and a bank. Space will be offered for lease.
Oliver said he has signed a bank, whose identity he declined to reveal, and is pursuing two sit-down restaurant chains that are in metropolitan Kansas City but would be new to Leawood.
Oliver's partner is Doug Henzlik. Their 8-year-old company's holdings include a vacant Wal-Mart store in Bonner Springs.
Oliver said he likes the spending power of people moving to Southern Johnson County. This population is spurring shopping center construction along 135th Street from State Line Road to Olathe.
