If KU hadn't been a disaster the last 12 years they'd be ranked right now. They'll have to do extra to prove it to the voters, but if they can win the next two they should have full trust by then.
KU is on the cusp of being ranked and surely will if they beat ISU this weekend. They are the 26th in one of the polls.

By virtue of beating OU, KSU is now ranked in one poll.
It’s ridiculous, and this tweet sums it up perfectly. Most of those ranked teams have just played junk schedules.

KU is 17 in one poll and 19th in another. Sets up a big game with TCU this week as they are ranked about the same. Whoever wins will be probably in the lower teens.

Does success for the KU football program really make the haters so crazy? Lance Leipold is a class act and has flat out rejected claims that he is moving to another school. Why would he when he is getting everything he wants at KU (upgraded facilities, including a refurbished historic Booth Memorial Stadium, certainly upgraded compensation)? It seems success by KU athletics just can’t be accepted by certain alumni of other schools.
3 million viewers will get hours of exposure to KU this weekend-that’s the kind of exposure that all KC area boosters should celebrate, win or lose.

I'm no CFB fan but I'm smart enough to see that Nebraska as a program has been collapsing for over a decade now & continues to decline yet they refuse to give up their 1990s mentality. You can talk all you want about Mizzou declining in the SEC but Nebraska was expected to regularly compete for the Big 10 championships & they went to 1 title game the year before MU & got 70 dropped on them.

I wouldn't let my worst enemy walk into the Huskers job, I'd rather coach a middle school.

About the only thing Nebraska has going for it now is its tradition but that tradition is starting to fade with time. Nebraska is probably better set in terms of conference than Kansas is at the moment but that could change if KU continues to have some success on the football field. Kansas has 1.5X the population of Nebraska so it could actually be a target for conference expansion if the football program stays healthy. That gives Leipold better reason to stay. That would be good for KC in some ways and bad in others as the Big XII's strong tie to the city would be weakened with a KU exit.

Wisconsin seems like a very strong possibility, he was born in wisconsin, coached at UW-Whitewater for a long time, i just don't buy anyone staying at KU for that long, it will always come 2nd to basketball

Leipold is old. He may realize his best path for a legacy is rebuilding KU football and making a winner out of it. And potentially alot more. He will get the Bill Self treatment and be set for life.

Wisconsin and schools like that have shown they will fire you in 3 years, even if you make a Rose Bowl.

KU will have to pay up, but I can def see him seeing KU as the better long term option. It would be remarkable to win with KU than anywhere else.

Winner is gonna be no worse than 11th. Very well could be end of top 10.

At a minimum, can’t see them putting an undefeated team with a top-20 win behind any teams with a loss. That puts them prob at 10th.

13/14. Not too surprised given how many undefeated teams are still left + the uncertainty around how good TCU and KU actually are. Close game was a good thing for the Big 12. Good to see KU stay steady at 19

I forgot TCU has only played 5 games. KU would’ve risen more than they had because they played 6 games. UCLA did exactly that.

Gonzaga, Kansas, Baylor, Houston are perennial top 10 teams. Followed by several other Big 12 schools that are perennially ranked. Big 12 would become the best basketball conference since the Big East in the 2000's. Amazing.

I wonder if this will go anywhere or if it should? While Gonzaga would bring another national powerhouse in basketball to the B12, it doesn't even have a football team and it would be one of the smallest universities in a P5 conference (~12,000 total students. Baylor for comparison has 35,000 total students). It would make the B12 an even better basketball league but the other concern is whether they can sustain the success after Few retires. He's not a young guy.

Some smoke that the Big 12 might be trying to expand further west taking the "Four Corner Schools"- Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State and Utah. Would likely mean the end of the Pac12 as USC and UCLA are already moving to the B1G. Washington and Oregon would be big schools that might also move to B1G or some other conference. Stanford and California want no part of joining "flyover country" Big12.

There won’t be any movement until there’s a Pac12 media deal. Once that happens, schools will evaluate if they can get a better deal elsewhere on the market (B12)

That has literally nothing to do with anything. It's all about the money. USC & UCLA joined the Big 10 and it had nothing to do with it being flyover.

There’s definitely a west coast snob bias where they push academically superiority. They also won’t take a religious school. Even if the Big12 gave Cal and Stanford the most money, they wouldn’t bite. They’d go independent like ND.

Big 12 tournament will expand to Wednesday through Sunday starting next year, 2024.

The change is due to having 14 teams instead of the usual 10.
