Stanford has always seen themselves as more of an Ivy League institution. Wouldn’t even be surprised if they made it official.

At some point we need to approach the Big 12 and poach them to Kansas City, and move them to some class A office space downtown. There’s no reason to be in Dallas anymore since this is a Kansas-led conference now. They need to atleast try it.

There's still going to be 4 Texas teams vs 2 Kansas Teams

The Big 12 bungled the opportunity to add Cincy and Louisville when they added West Virginia and TCU. They should've had agreements with at least some of the PAC 12 schools by now and the longer this draws out the less confidence I have that the Big 12 will come out in the best possible position.

I agree that getting the BIG 12 offices back in KC would be a nice grab. The only reason they were in Dallas is because of Texas being the bully and throwing their weight around. We are losing Texas & OU, gaining BYU, Central Florida, Cincinnati, and Houston. KC becomes more of a central spot for the Conference. If we add more PAC 12 schools it still benefits from being right in the middle of the US and a good spot to work from given we would have teams in all time zones if we brought in Pac 12 teams like Oregon (AZ is its own animal)
I definitely like that idea of bringing back the Big 12 HQ. Why we are at it let's bring back the NCAA as well. Indy poached it, let's poach it back

Kansas is the most valuable school in the conference, and K-State & KU have more tenure in the conference than schools in Texas that just joined relatively recently. That’s why Texas & OU were running things was because of their value. We need to exert that leverage with Kansas now. It’s like someone said earlier, Kansas is the only flag ship state school left.

So...we all hate Texas and the control they wielded over the other schools in the Big 12, so let's become them when they leave?AlkaliAxel wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 12:32 pmDukuboy says part of it^^Cratedigger wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 8:40 amKansas led?AlkaliAxel wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 9:12 pm At some point we need to approach the Big 12 and poach them to Kansas City, and move them to some class A office space downtown. Yes, but it makes more sense for us to have the HQ than Texas ever did was the point.beautyfromashes wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 12:45 pmSo...we all hate Texas and the control they wielded over the other schools in the Big 12, so let's become them when they leave?AlkaliAxel wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 12:32 pmDukuboy says part of it^^Cratedigger wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 8:40 am

Yes. But us having it would make actually make sense. We’re the centrally located city of the sprawling Big 12. If Dallas really wants to just let them keep the Big 12 champ football game. Throw em a bone.beautyfromashes wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 12:45 pmSo...we all hate Texas and the control they wielded over the other schools in the Big 12, so let's become them when they leave?AlkaliAxel wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 12:32 pmDukuboy says part of it^^Cratedigger wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 8:40 am

They deserve to be ranked but not enough teams lost this week so I think they'll be shut out for one more week. I think if they beat Duke, which they probably will, they'll be ranked. They're good enough to probably start 6-0.

Re: TIME TO FREAK OUT AGAIN ABOUT CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT! THE BIG 12 IS DEAD! MAYBE!
I doubt if that's true. Looking at their schedule, they have five very tough games on their schedule (OU, ISU, UT, Baylor and OSU). The remainder of their games (TCU, Tech, KSU and Duke) are all games they can probably win if they keep playing like they have been. Their offense is really pretty good but their defense won't be able to stop other teams with potent offenses. Hence, they will likely need to score nearly every possession against the better teams to stay competitive. It's definitely a little too early to rank them.

If you look at every other schedule most teams are playing FCS teams and dogshit. KU has won two road games against quality power-5 teams. Yeah, they deserve it but they won't yet because they're too new to this. When they beat Duke they'll be in.Fountains wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 11:11 amNo they don't they haven't even beaten anyone with a winning record yet.AlkaliAxel wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 1:49 amThey deserve to be ranked but not enough teams lost this week so I think they'll be shut out for one more week. Uhhh...record doesn't matter that much after Week 3 lol. Beating Power-5 teams has & always will hold more weight than beating 2-0 Western Michigan. Just go take a few minutes and look through the schedules of some of the teams ranked 20-35 right now, and then look at KU's.Fountains wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 2:13 pmlook at the teams ranked they've all beaten a team or team(s) with winning records. KU is too new to winning so they don't have that trust built up yet with the voters/coaches. Weeks 1-4 polls are basically just built on who they trust almost as much as record. Otherwise, go ahead and rank 3-0 Duke lol.

According to Sagarin, KU is 48th and Wake Forest is 39th. Wake Forest has a marginally more difficult schedule at this point point than KU. Surprisingly, Duke (also 3-0) is ranked 78th. So beating Duke won't do a lot of good for KU's SOS.Fountains wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 6:47 pmYesAlkaliAxel wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 2:31 pmSo you can tell me a straight face right now that #21 Wake Forest, also 3-0, has played a tougher schedule?

I'm always intrigued, however, by Steely Dan's take on Wake Forest - literally the antithesis of a winner. But that was the 70's

I'm not sure if you're joking, but that song has nothing to do with Wake Forest. The name "Deacon" was inspired by Deacon Jones, but it's not about him either. They just liked the sound of the name and assigned it to their titular jazz musician character.Highlander wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 9:21 pmAccording to Sagarin, KU is 48th and Wake Forest is 39th. Re: TIME TO FREAK OUT AGAIN ABOUT CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT! THE BIG 12 IS DEAD! MAYBE!
Yes, KC for sure would be the ideal spot. Not so much because KU is close but more based on a history of being the HQ city for the Big 8 & NCAA at one time. There is a spirit here if people looking to get things done & approach business as what is best for the brand not just an individual school. Just like in every business & families there is a bit of favoritism & nepotism for sure. But I think a group based in KC would minimize that. TX is about to get a rude awakening in SEC land. OU I’m not sure what they gain beyond more exposure as a top end football program. But I wonder if they don’t get lost in the shuffle, akin to Nebraska going to the Big 10. OU is better in football & hoops so impact will be lessened but they are going into the SEC with no rivals, or history. TX is their closest thing to both. So we shall see how it plays out.AlkaliAxel wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 1:37 pmYes. But us having it would make actually make sense. We’re the centrally located city of the sprawling Big 12. If KU hadn't been a disaster the last 12 years they'd be ranked right now. They'll have to do extra to prove it to the voters, but if they can win the next two they should have full trust by then.Highlander wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 9:21 pm According to Sagarin, KU is 48th and Wake Forest is 39th. KU is on the cusp of being ranked and surely will if they beat ISU this weekend. They are the 26th in one of the polls.UMKC Roo wrote: ↑Tue Sep 20, 2022 8:37 pmIf KU hadn't been a disaster the last 12 years they'd be ranked right now. By virtue of beating OU, KSU is now ranked in one poll.
