It's got plenty of residents now, more than the Crossroads location. We see that in the commuting hours at the North Loop streetcar stop.

Is impressive how many coffee joints downtown has given so many surface lots yet to be developed.DaveKCMO wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 9:32 am The new Mildred's is open! https://www.kansascity.com/news/busines ... 29527.html
Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity
Stopped by Mildreds (a couple times this week) and it has been pretty busy each time. One thing to note is that the prices of sandwiches have jumped up a $2-$3 dollars a piece since the move.earthling wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2019 9:38 amIs impressive how many coffee joints downtown has given so many surface lots yet to be developed.DaveKCMO wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 9:32 am The new Mildred's is open! https://www.kansascity.com/news/busines ... 29527.html

Seeing Pickleman’s advertising January 6th opening with some test runs next week.
Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity
Did the advertising specify a year or did they leave that part open-ended?normalthings wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 9:26 pm Seeing Pickleman’s advertising January 6th opening with some test runs next week.

I didn't see anybody inside, but there was a pickle standing out front at lunchtime today handing out flyers (or menus).normalthings wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 9:26 pm Seeing Pickleman’s advertising January 6th opening with some test runs next week.

Just under 4 years. Think how long it would have taken if they had wanted a liquor license?

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity
Why the boycott?
Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity
because i walk past underutilized space 25x a day every day and this is the rare occasion i can place blame on a current retail tenant for several years of it instead of some shadowy, abstract kemper or copaken enterprise.
Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity
boycotts just make it underutilized again quicker
Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity
I don’t feel the need to reward incompetent businesses just for existing.
Apparently the franchisees were also blaming the Andrews McMeel construction as an additional reason for why it took them so long to open.

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity
rough crowd. I feel like it was a case of not enough capital to do what they needed to do to the space. They stayed invested in it and now we have another option open until 10pm. I'll give them a shot and wish them well.
Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity
That was part of the delay and who cares... they were paying rent the entire time. I don't think it's fair to blame the owners or assume they're "incompetent". You have no idea why the had to pay rent for years on a place that wasn't making a single penny for them.
Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity
Oh... and by the way it was packed today yet people got in and out quickly. I didn't go but heard several people who loved it and were impressed with the speed of service.

Recommend the chipolte chicken, plus the soup is good. A lot of people like the pizzas. I lived across from a Picklemans in law school and lived off the stuff.
Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity
They were quite busy at lunch today, but the line moved reasonably quickly. The Italian Beef is decent. I'll probably go back, if I can remember it actually opened.
