There is a handwritten sign on the door of Smokin Joes that says "Bellringers Pub and Grub Opening Soon".

I hope 2009 is the year of the gay bar in KC. Seven would make a nice gay bar.

the gays are fine with infiltrating the "normal" places. no need for more badly-run dumps repurposing the late 80s as if they were yesterday. thx.

you speak as though you have something against gay bars and this isn't the first time. while there is very much something anachronistic about exclusively gay bars, i'd still like to see kc turn into the gayest city in the america. gay supermarkets, gay dry cleaners, gay theaters, gay restaurants...gay culture kc.

They should turn it into a hip bar, art space and music venue. Kinda like Record Bar meets YJ's meets the Pistol.

The whole roof deck that's already built makes it a perfect center of attention. Hopefully somebody gets the right concept to make it work.

Well back to the pub - there didn't appear to be any signs of work going on inside other than a tremendous ammount of bottled beer drinking. Oddly, its as if the Smokin Joes people just never showed up for work one day - there are still katchup bottles on the tables, bottles behind the bar, etc.

I agree that this space could be "the hub" of the crossroads. I think they'd need to rework the interior a bit, but it is in a great location, great sq ft, very accessable.

call me cynical, but i am skeptical that "Bellringer's Pub & Grub" is going to become the focal point of the Crossroads. the building is great, but that doesn't sound to me like a winning idea.

Yeah the idea is underwhelming...my thoughts on a 'hub' were based strictly on the location and the building/deck

It's probably the best location in the Xroads for a food/entertainment/nightlife business.

Hell regardless of the concept, just being open past 5:30PM would go a long ways towards making it more of a focus of activity than the previous concept.
