Favorite 80s movie ever - Real Genius. Hilarious movie with a very young Val Kilmer.

I'm pretty sure that was the first boobie I ever saw in a movie. Wasn't it PG? Oh MPAA, you sure have changed.chrizow wrote:

Re: Bitchin' Movies from the 80's
The correct answer is Ghostbusters. I am aghast at this thread.
Some other greats have been mentioned though: Back to the Future, Karate Kid, Wargames... Kind of shocked that everyone has overlooked Indiana Jones (or the Empire Strikes Back, for that matter). Spielberg had some gems with Indy as well as ET. James Cameron did some great work in the 80s, too: Terminator, Aliens, and the Abyss (which is actually, I think, his weakest movie, and no, I'm not forgetting Titanic, but it's still pretty solid). Blue Velvet is pretty good. Escape from New York, Raging Bull, Amadeus, Field of Dreams, Risky Business, the Vanishing. To borrow from the other movie thread, there were some good Woody Allen movies: Purple Rose of Cairo and Hannah & Her Sisters stand out in particular.
Moving into not necessarily great but still personal favorites territory: Teen Wolf, Weekend at Bernie's, Cocktail, Breakin' (and let's not forget Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo), Footloose, Kickboxer, Red Dawn...this list could really go on forever.
What a great decade.

Huge ghostbusters fan myself. Surprised to see no mention the movie Big with Tom Hanks, I thought that was a good one too.

Re: Bitchin' Movies from the 80's
if we're allowed to mention all time bad movies made in the 80's, Can't stop The Music tops the list, in my opinion.
Bruce Jenner, Valarie Perrine, and the Village People. Cinema perfection.
