i voted.
did you? how was it?
i got to St. Pauls Day School on Main at 5:45 and there was a line around the block. i think it is fair to say that 99.9% of the people there were Obama voters.
had a slight problem with my address, but got it sorted out and was done voting by 7:15. i brought coffee, a newspaper, ipod, etc., but ended up just chatting with people in line. it was really nice.

i think the lines are going to be long all day. just bite the bullet and do it! i'm afraid people will see the lines and get discouraged...

This is almost as good as the threads about snowstorms and how long it took us to get to work.

I was thinking of that too. I resisted walking by the long line and making a comment like that. Or just ask why everyone was standing around and what's going on today.shinatoo wrote: Good to see some of you finally step foot into a church.

Only when it's a polling place. Or to hear Handel or something.shinatoo wrote: Good to see some of you finally step foot into a church.
UPDATE - drove past Immanuel Lutheran again and the line is down to the next block. I'll have to try again after work.

Re: i voted.
I was in line about 1 hr 20 minutes at Don Bosco, where it usually takes me about 3 minutes to vote. They were doing a good job trying to keep things organized and moving quickly and had lots of makeshift voting booths set up. The longest lines were the two for the River Market people, the Columbus Park line was down to almost nothing by the time I left.

For those of you putting it off: it's only going to be worse later.
Fortunately our polling place at 17th and Benton was in-and-out, no line. There were a lot of people in there voting, but we didn't have to wait.

Re: i voted.
I unfortunately didn't have enough time this morning - the line at Our Lady of Sorrows was around to the front of the church. I will be headed back in an hour or so, and I will wait it out!

Glad I'm in Lawrence. There are polling stations about every 3 blocks in the older parts of Lawrence. Some are right across the street from each other. Planning on going later on, but so far I've heard there are no long lines.

Re: i voted.
there was a lady sitting at the booth next to me who kept talking to me as we voted.
she grumbled about how the voting privacy partitions were cardboard/disposable - "this really is an AMERICAN election!"

Got to the polling place at 6:00 and waited around 30 to 40 minutes to vote. In the previous 15 years I've voted in this precinct I've never been higher than 3rd in line, usually I just walk right in.

He might have been pulling my leg, but a friend in New York told me they use paper ballots, fold them up, and put them into 100 year old liquor boxes, just like they did in the early 1900s.chrizow wrote: there was a lady sitting at the booth next to me who kept talking to me as we voted.

Re: i voted.
5 minutes and I was done.
I think there was a mad rush before 8, so I waited a bit.
The place I vote at has like 15 booths, but seemed to move along fine.
