Just got back from College Station (my 2nd KSU roadie of the year) and had a great time, despite 2 pretty poor teams. College station is a long drive but it was a must see college stadium. Fans were great, if not a little obsessed with UT and the whole chanting thing. College station reminded me of a city about the size of Lawrence but a bar district much much smaller...Dixie chicken is "the" bar to see there, but it's nothing but a country beer bar...we had one drink and left....the other bars were ok, just not much to choose from.
Everybody should make one trip to College station...it's a cool football weekend. Even though they did honor the 1998 Big 12 title game team (who took KSU out of the national championship game) Here are some pics and videos....
View of Kyle field from a roof bar in Northgate
Lovely greeting from a Northgate bar (actually this is just one of A&M's "sayings")
Flyover
Kyle
Postgame...really cool, you can walk on the field post-game
Most A&M fans were cool but this fan with this shirt seemed strange...along with quoting the bible to diss UT shirts I saw
Couple videos
Video of them at midnight yell practice...this is some cheer against UT...they also have some yell leader attempting to diss the opponent that week...

Probably not fair but showing the great A&M fans bailing early

Sounds like a fun time. How was the "scenery" ? Was the stadium completely full? Or were there empty seats due to A&M's terrible team?

Not too bad, they are no UT. Can definitely tell the difference between UT and A&M. It was a quality trip...probably wouldn't have went if we played ATM more often but had to finally make it down there....their crowd was still into it despite being so bad...they still make for a hostile environment.
I sat under the student section so couldn't tell but the upper corners were empty of the endzone and alumni sections...still 78k announced....with the past couple of years they have had, still impressive.

I have always liked the stadium Texas A&M has. I like the "3-layer deck." I think that gives it a more mordern/pro sports feel, even if they are lacking the 12th man.
Thanks for sharing the pics, KCP.

Did the stadium feel like a pro stadium or a college stadium? Were the restrooms/concessions nice? Or did it seem outdated?

The interior bowl feels more like a pro stadium...the facilities underneath are old and quit nasty actually...plus one of my biggest stadium pet peeves, no radio in the bathroom.
The city itself felt very suburban....no real downtown area that we found...our hotel was by a typical suburban kohls/bed bath beyond/target type development but still close to campus. The campus itself isn't that attractive....still just something to see as far as a football experience.
