UPS and FedEx do some large scale moves that overlaps with YRC. They don't ship automobiles while YRC doesn't deliver to your house, but there is overlap in the middle.aknowledgeableperson wrote: UPS is a union company, given that a friend of mine is a retired Teamster who worked for UPS.
UPS and FedEx are direct competitors, YRC is quite different than them (when have you seen a YRC truck deliver to your house?).

I don't think anyone has said that she's more experienced than Obama. If they did...it was probably related to "Executive Experience"...all a bunch of election brouhaha. I think they are equally inexperienced. But, Obama is a much better communicator and that is the difference - perception.phxcat wrote: I recently saw a survey that showed that 60% of Republicans would like to see her as the pick.
Case in point- and also an inane comment all in one! OK, if you want to say that both Palin and Obama are underqualified, fine- but this meme that Palin is actually more qualified than Obama is just laughable.

So how do you think Governor Palin will do in the 2012 primary season? Does she stand a chance against Mike Huckabee?mean wrote: Palin is almost certainly gearing up for a prez run in 2012--much like Obama was after 2004. I don't think she has a chance of getting past the primaries, but they said that about Obama, too...
He's a better standard bearer of the religious and conservative right than she is; and doesn't have the moral blemishes that will either cause Support for her to either think again or choose the low road of hypocrisy.

If Romney, Huckabee, and Palin all run, that's three overlapping strict social values candidates. Any chance a more secular, business-oriented candidate would appear as an alternative? Who would it be?

I'm sorry those don't exist in the Republican party anymore. Romney is business-oriented and that's as close as your going to get.LenexatoKCMO wrote: Any chance a more secular, business-oriented candidate would appear as an alternative? Who would it be?
Also, if you want be considered a candidate, you have to be "conservative" meaning against increased spending (no Republican has ever been), strong on national defense, for tax cuts, anti-abortion rights, anti-gay anything. The last two positions to increase hillbilly membership. If you don't spew all the right talking points on each of those you're run out of town with a pitchfork. Or you'll be like John McCain and get called a "moderate to liberal Republican" in the words of Bill Cunningham.
I actually wish the Republican party would just collapse and split off into two different parties. Or just collapse altogether.
Re: Election 2008
Romney is all business... don't let the Mormon thing fool you. He was pro choice until he figured out the Republican Party would never nominate a pro choice candidate for President. I think a Romney/Huckabee ticket would be very appealing, however I'm not sure American's will go for two guys who are not currently in government at the time of election. I'm not sure Pawlenty will make a lot of noise, however being a somewhat popular governor in a "blue" state will make him a very attractive VP target. I think Jindal is the future of this party, but he is only 37 so I don't see him rushing to run against an incumbunt unless he is very vulnerable.LenexatoKCMO wrote: If Romney, Huckabee, and Palin all run, that's three overlapping strict social values candidates. Regardless of what everyone says about Palin I would love to have her in Congress, not so much as VP or President. I believe she really loves her country and would not allow herself to be completely corrupted by Washington. She was better than Biden as a VP choice. I can take some mistakes from a young Governer fresh on the scene, at least she has a chance to learn. You can't make excuses for Biden, he has been in Washington for 30 years and he is still a baffoon.

Nice stereotypes in there. Pitchfork? Come on. That's like me saying that Libs are pro welfare, pro tax, pro spend, weak on crime, weak on defense...bry456 wrote: I'm sorry those don't exist in the Republican party anymore. Romney is business-oriented and that's as close as your going to get.

Don't act like Democrats have always been or will always be so united. Watch the next 2-4 years.

Unknown sources? Surely you're joking. It was mostly Osama bin Laden and the ghost of Jeffrey Dahmer.jlbomega wrote: Not any worse than a guy who promised he would take public money for his campaign, then bail on it so he could funnel all sorts of money from unknown sources through his website.

but we both know that abortion is a massive issue for a large segment of the right. all politicians flip flop to some degree (regrettably), but it's interesting that Romney flip flopped on such a central issue to social conservatives.

I'd bet anything Romney was always pro-life, but became pro-choice politically so he could win Massachussetts' Governorship in 2002. Which when you think about it, was pretty amazing that he did.

NowTHAT's a major disqualifying failure and betrayal of the public trust. How about starting a recall drive or impeachment initiative for such a high crime and misdemeanor?jlbomega wrote: Not any worse than a guy who promised he would take public money for his campaign, then bail on it so he could funnel all sorts of money from unknown sources through his website.
