If I recall correctly, Historic KC was much more proactive in saving buildings years ago. I believe they renovated several houses in the Longfellow neighborhood, a couple of houses in Central Hyde Park, as well as being involved in renovating several buildings on the north side of W. 9th Street between Baltimore and Wyandotte (Bunker, Orient, Lyceum buildings).

After the Coates House fire, HKC bought the damaged building to salvage the north wing for restoration.
The organization seemed to have lost its way after Jane Flynn died.
