Isle of Capri has talked about a replacement, which could make a great spot for stadium/hotel/casino but Isle might want to replace well before stadium construction would actually start. (Yes, I'm continuously building a case for this area).

Hate to mention this but even though the new owner *appears* committed to KC, KC is for most part fair weather sports fans that ride along with Royals performance. If Royals have 5-10 more bad years while Nashville/Portland/etc are aching for a team, the owner may make a business choice.

It would be VERY expensive to buy out a brand new apartment complex with decades of rent coming.

Don't count on this site. It's 21 acres, the current stadium is on 18 acres and could go as small as 15. there's a power plant to the east and railroad tracks to the south. they're pinned in without space for even team and vip parking

Especially don't expect a Casino and Hotel too with that much space.

Seems to be pushing bi-state but I don't see Kansas approving that at this point of time. Also would like the team to kick in quite a bit.

19th to 20th, Grand to McGee is a parking lot owned by Price Development. minimum size needed for small stadium is two blocks, most likely will end up on most or all of four blocks. Don’t count on that area at all.

Macro solution - abort north loop, keep ditch for parking and commuter rail link, remove walnut bridge, Cerner stadium east of main, west of grand, easy fit and on the people mover with parking aplenty and commuter link

Please keep the stadium away from the north loop

What about the bit of downtown directly east of downtown, I believe it’s called paseo west. I always imagined that neighborhood could really blossom if it had just a bit of a fresh start. It’s got a great grid some beautiful old buildings and a great area

A stadium requires about 4 city blocks, meaning a major N/S street will inevitably get cut off. Maybe we can put the stadium on a barge in the middle of the river and when we get sick of them we just float them downriver to Columbia?

Any of the solutions proposed here will result in mutilation of the street grid somewhere. That’s one of the tradeoffs of building downtown. If we value an intact street grid, then downtown baseball may not be for us. There’s really no harm in leaving the Royals out at TSC. The urban core of KC is doing pretty well without them. I’d hate to see us hitch so much money and acreage to the competence of a sports team - especially one that’s had 2-3 good years in the last 30.

The city will sacrifice Charlotte in a heartbeat -- one of the few north/south streets that goes all the way through downtown.

Agree, have mentioned I would've supported this 10-15 years ago to boost downtown but a high functioning downtown shouldn't rely on events and there are already enough event driving venues. More residents/hotel visitors/office workers will boost street vibe further on a daily basis, which a stadium won't do being unused too often.

Am only for new stadium if mostly not funded by JaxCo taxpayers (rental car tax like arena, higher ticket prices, etc).

Same here. Leave it where it is. This team is prone to long droughts of awful baseball. In 10 years, the stadium will look unused even when the team is playing.

I’m fine with that but they shouldn’t get a dime of tax money ever again. Spending money on upgrades when no additional revenue for the city will be generated is a waste. If they want to build DT, I’d vote for a tax as long as it was regional and matched by the team.

Even a bad team brings in an event 81 nights a year and the atmosphere would likely draw more fans than having to shlug out to Kauffman
