Has Galvin stated she's for a downtown stadium. As a Republican, I'd think she'd want to move it to Blue Springs.Critical_Mass wrote: ↑Tue Oct 18, 2022 11:26 am From what I've heard, FW is not pro-downtown baseball so you're better off voting for Galvin in that regard

I think I remember reading a quote from her saying "most of the people I talk to don't want it moved at all!" so...beautyfromashes wrote: ↑Tue Oct 18, 2022 11:38 amHas Galvin stated she's for a downtown stadium. FW will play ball with Royals moving. I think he just preferred the Vine location.

Didn't he fight for a downtown stadium last time around?UMKC Roo wrote: ↑Tue Oct 18, 2022 12:27 pmI think I remember reading a quote from her saying "most of the people I talk to don't want it moved at all!" so...beautyfromashes wrote: ↑Tue Oct 18, 2022 11:38 amHas Galvin stated she's for a downtown stadium. Spoke with a architect who’s working on some designs officially for the E. Crossroads site. It’s still alive and In consideration. The desire to do the full 7 block cap could be tied to this as well and would or could mean the royals become another investor for that project.
Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Wheres the seven blocks? It is 6 blocks from Oak to Wyandotte.
Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Doesn't seem worth putting a park in front of the AT&T barn.

Well I assume he means he doesn’t support it because the possibility is very seriously being considered.normalthings wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 4:46 pmNo as you don’t support it or no m it’s not happeningbeautyfromashes wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 4:34 pmNo.DColeKC wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 3:12 pm Spoke with a architect who’s working on some designs officially for the E. If they are going into East Crossroads, they could give the area a Wrigleyville vibe. The bars over there would benefit greatly and developing the surrounding area would become a little bit easier.

Or they'll surround it with parking lots and kill the neighborhood.Chris Stritzel wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 6:17 pm If they are going into East Crossroads, they could give the area a Wrigleyville vibe. Google Maps seems to make it out to be possible.

Dcole, can you specify exactly which blocks this plan would be on?

If the Royals do go to Crossroads, the Chiefs absolutely need to consider going to the EV site.
Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Won’t happen. But hey, EV is a great and a close place for parking structures.WoodDraw wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 6:30 pmOr they'll surround it with parking lots and kill the neighborhood.Chris Stritzel wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 6:17 pm If they are going into East Crossroads, they could give the area a Wrigleyville vibe. Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Dimensions are roughly accurate.
Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I’m not 100% sure on that exact detail. I floated the idea of stadium in E crossroads and parking at jail site. By putting parking there it serves the arena as well. If the cap goes all 7 blocks to locust it also makes for a great pedestrian experience.FlippantCitizen wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 7:15 pm Dcole, can you specify exactly which blocks this plan would be on?
Royals I’m sure are well aware that this location comes with challenges and some stern opposition. May also drive up the project cost by several million. Worth it if done correctly.
There are more advantages or pros than cons for this site.
Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
This makes me think about downtown football, but I don’t see that as a realistic possibility. Very cool though.
