Would also require permanently ruining some of the oldest street grid in the entire metropolitan area. Redevelop the north loop area with dense traditional development. It doesn't need a megaproject, especially after the north loop freeway itself nuked so much fabric

It's the only way North Loop removal happens.TheLastGentleman wrote: ↑Mon Mar 06, 2023 6:24 pm Would also require permanently ruining some of the oldest street grid in the entire metropolitan area. Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Would have to make it old time brick style. Overlooked by a reconstructed Board of Trade.
Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Would a stadium fit in the space between 6th, Baltimore, 8th, and Central?

For some of those locations where does the proposed development tie in fit?
Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Not much room in EV within the 4 block footprint for the promised surround development. Surprised they show stadium on top of Charlotte. Will it tunnel underneath or dead end on of the few through streets?

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
It might actually cause officials to not remove the North Loop interstate because they would say it would still be needed to move stadium traffic efficiently.
Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
By the time this stadium is built, we will all have jetpacks and there will be no need for parking.

North KC site is the old AMF Bowling Alley and is one of the last 4 or 5 sites the Royals are considering.
I think this one of the 62 parcels recently sold in NKC. Over 150 acres

I really don't hate this option. Lots of room to build out the development side of things and would make the NKC streetcar project much more appealing to the public.Cratedigger wrote: ↑Wed Mar 08, 2023 8:39 am North KC site is the old AMF Bowling Alley and is one of the last 4 or 5 sites the Royals are considering.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Really a hike from even a Swift streetcar alignment. Instead of the "K" the stadium can be called the Gold Buffet.
Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
NKC is not a bad idea, but downtown KC needs a stadium much more. All the hotels etc would be a hike.SHPNeighbor wrote: ↑Wed Mar 08, 2023 8:49 amI really don't hate this option. However, if it did happen, it would make a lot more sense to stop thinking streetcar and think LRT and then take it to KCI Airport.
I still do not understand how streetcars will work for something like a MLB stadium.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
This is a weird location. I would be better for residential development, but maybe this would get the streetcar across the river. I don't hate it, but East Village is still the superior location due to walking distance to downtown/P&L.

Yeah, I hate it. If it's not downtown within walking proximity to hotels and bars and restaurants and building synergy there, it might as well stay at the TSC.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Yeah, the location would be perfect. Could be designed to compliment the PAC. And the views from the stadium would be one of the best in all of baseball.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I wasn’t going to comment because it’s such a ridiculous location and has no chance but yeah it’s a dumb spot. This was never the intention.
