The "kiddy crowd" is a specific reference to the experience people have had at the Crown Center theaters-- it was brought up in another thread.  It is not a stereotype of the teenage crowd in general.  Don't get your knickers in a knot and assume that just because someone makes a certain reference that it is automatically a politically incorrect statement.  The following reference to the middle-aged suburbanites was (I assume) a sarcastic response to what was assumed to be a stereotype.

i actually remember going there with my dad before they closed. remembering what it looked like then, which was just a few months before it closed, and seeing those pictures on the empire thread, it shows the place is in SAD shape, and needs a lot of work. but, it will be nice to see it opened.

When are they going to start renovations on these two buildings? It looked like they started on the Empire but I haven't seen anything done to it for about a month.

I spoke to an usher at the Midland last night who told me that last night's Dylan show was the last show before they close down for 18 months of refurbishment.  Sounds like we should be seeing work starting soon.

I was wondering the same thing.  I'd think, since this is a renovation rather than new construction, that something would be happening already.  I can't wait to see what the Midland condos (or are they apts.?) look like. It would be a cool building to live in.
