I went to the oktoberfest last year and it was good but not really my thing.....a few old bands and a couple beer/food vendors....it was lacking that certain "something" to be exciting....but good for a first effort.....

Yeah looking forward to it. I didn't make it to the Oktoberfest, but the Irish fest should definitely be big. The Brookside and Westport Irish fests were always good. Hopefully this will be a great event to expose the Riverfront Park to a lot of people that still don't really know about it.

I'm Irish, but I can't turn down a free labor day weekend stay at a lake house on the Lake of the Ozarks. I know it will be a success, spoke with a couple of Irish folk bands that will be performing there. The crowds will be massive unless the heat is unbearable.

They are looking for volunteers
The Westport and Brookside Festivals have combined this year for the 1st Annual Kansas City Irish Fest. This event is Labor Day weekend and will be Friday, Sat & Sunday at Berkley park. I (Mary) am in charge of the Beverage tents, ID checkers and helping with the Parking lot too and we are in need of hundreds of volunteers. If your going to be in town for the Holiday weekend and looking for something to do please let me know if you would like to work a shift or several shifts. Please send me your name and names of friends and day or days you would like to work.

You can check out the info about the festival on our web site WWW.KCIRISHFEST.COM where you can see the Entertainment schedule which is awesome but please do not sign up to volunteer through the site or you may get stuck working the trash pick up. My areas are going through me. So check your calendars and let me know!!

Thanks, Mary

What doesn't sound Irish? QueSi = K.C., 2 = To, Opie = O.P.
Or is it because I used Spanish in general? I'm fond of Spain, especially the region of Galicia where the Celts once roamed. Spent a summer over there in '94. Have been to Ireland as well.

Anyhow, my father was an Irish-Catholic extremist who moved from Donegal Co., Ireland in 1973. Met my mother, an Independence Baptist and wanna-be hippy. They married shortly after and I was born in 1974. My mother sent me to Baptist Sunday School during my childhood (she wore the pants in the family). I chose my father's Catholic religion during my teen years. Look at me now, I hate religion, but still drink guinness like gatorade.

QueSi? Call me an idiot. I couldn't figure your name out just like I can never figure out the personal licence tags. I thought it was Cutesypie. LOL. Sorry.

Temps are supposed to be in the mid-70's on Saturday. It should be a perfect day for an Irish festival!

QueSi2Opie, I thought the QueSi was French, if anything. You are just too clever for us.

I've got other plans this weekend, so I won't be at the Irish fest.
