Guarding Bartle Hall?

Post by KCPowercat »

OK, I've been seeing this for about a month now and for the life of me can't figure it out.....any hour I pass Bartle Hall on Broadway between 14th & 13th, there is ALWAYS two chairs sitting there and somebody sitting there with a cooler. Sometimes it's a cop but mostly it's just some guy....anybody know what this is all about?

there is no door there to guard, nothing really at all...I just don't get it.

I've seen those guards too.

I will wager a guess and say that it has something to do with terrorism threats against public gathering places.

At night, Bartle Hall hires "day laborers" to come in and tear down and re-setup the exhibit halls for whatever convention is in town. A security person would say that there is a security vulnerability there. Any of the temporary laborers could let someone planning harm into one of the side doors. A terrorist then could plant a bomb.

Those guards probably have to check everyone who comes into the Hall during those off hours. I've also noticed them outside of Municipal Auditorium at times.

That's my take on it.
There is no fifth destination.
