Does anybody have a ballpark of square foot leasing rate of a restaurant space downtown?  Inside and outside of the P&L would be even more helpful.

Thansk.

woah woah woah.

KCP, you're supposed to be the guy with the answers here.  what the hell are you doing asking a question?  you think that just because you don't run the place anymore you can slum with the commoners?

edit:  as for the original question, i've no clue.  however, the answer might be rather interesting.

KCP, downtown retail rental rates are currently from $10 to 19 psf annually, plus in many cases the common area maintenance costs (janitor, utilities, taxes, insurance, repairs), and in some a percentage of sales is additionally shared with the property owner.  Retail rates are starting a shift upward as retail space is disappearing and more retailers are showing up looking for this disappearing commodity.

I don't have direct experience, but I have been told that Cordish is currently quoting $32 to 39 psf for restaurant space, plus cam charges that will be whatever, but likely at least $10.  It's a brave new world.

Would it make sense to open a restaurant just outside the P+L? Then you'd be paying a lower rent but probably still getting a lot of the traffic. Or are owners of adjacent properties increasing their rents?

Cupini's has to be the genius considering that...one block off the district proper and got very cheap rents.

Think to get cheap rents, you had to take a chance a couple years ago.....I'm sure owners will be jacking up rents anyways.
