Gordon Biersch Brewery, Mosaic Lounge, Famous Dave's (Yuck!!), Chipotle, and Jos. A. Bank.

Nothing spectacular that I can see.

I thought Biersch was already announced - was that just a rumor?

Wow, it will be awesome that out-of-towners will visit Kansas City, the BBQ Mecca and get to try some authentic Famous Dave's St. Louis style BBQ based in Minneapolis, MN!

The Mosaic Lounge was about the only tenant that made me raise my eyebrowse. I guess we'll have to wait another few months before they announce new tenants.  :?

Wow.  Yawn.  Famous Daves?  Give me a break.  Even the chain-a-fied mecca of the plaza does better than that.

Mosaic Lounge is in the Baltimore Cordish development, so no real surprise.

Gordon Biersch looks okay. Anyone ever been to one?

According to Gordon Biersch's website, the KC location will fill in a gigantic geographical hole. The closest other locations are New Orleans to the south, Columbus(OH) to the east, and Broomfield, CO(Boulder) to the west. Not even Chicago has one. I think this is a nice score for KC.

If we have a contrived "entertainment district" being developed by an out of town company, I thought it was pretty well understood that it would *not* be a place to go for local flavor.

Mosaic seems pretty decent - just a swanky lounge.

it looks like they favor deep house music.  the "photos" page features nights with Andy Caldwell and Miguel Migs.  it would be great if similar figures came to Mosaic Lounge, filling in the void left by Frisky.

if the Deepfix guys are still playing, they should be the resident DJs there, along with KC's other fine house dj's.

The developer of the downtown entertainment district added Gordon Biersch Brewery and Restaurant, Mosaic Lounge, Famous Dave's Barbecue and Chipotle Mexican Grill to the area's menu of offerings, along with retailer Jos. A. Bank.

In announcing the tenants from the 30th-floor office that houses Cordish's local operations, Blake Cordish addressed those who doubted that the Power & Light District would be built.

"I think if you look out the windows now ... I don't think there's any doubt," he said.

Jos A Bank is a decent addition.  It isn't going to bring anyone downtown, but it is nice to have a shirt & tie place available downtown.

true but when they boast 30 percent locals it would be reasonable to assume a bbq local in the bbq capital

I'd be very surprised to see any locals at all.

I hope Blake didn't just travel to KC for that. That is a bit underwhelming.

He better be here for other Buisness (ie: Helping to lure the Penguins).  :D

absolutely, but i think it's understandable that Famous Dave's would elicit some groans.

i think most of us are resigned to the fact the P+L will be chains...but it would be nice to have some that distinguish P+L from, say, Village West.  other than simple neighborhood eateries like Chipotle, i would think it would be possible to make the entire district exclusive.

it'll be fine though.  Mosaic, "Vin," Gimme Sum, etc. will be more or less exclusive - at least initially.

Not to pick nits, but there are shirt + tie places downtown - Slobotsky & Sons, Michael's - Hall's if you use the MODESA definition of downtown.

I am not crazy about the restaurants (esp. Famous Dave's - wtf), but I was under the impression that the retail in P+L was going to be a little more upscale then discount menswear.
