Savvy rearranged its furniture so it's more open and inviting. It looks waaaay better. I'm still a fan of this place overall mainly because of the location. They need to market at the Phillips & Marriott. I hope they've elevated the food/drink options.

Re: P&L District: 12th & Main Site Proposal
What is the deal with Savvy's hours? I wasn't trying to go there, but they were closed @ 2 PM today.
Even when they had their crazy hours of being open all the time...there were a handful of people in there. Sunday afternoons there were 3-4 tables occupied.
With the traffic from the grocery as well as the Jones traffic in the summer, I think they could do OK with evening and weekend hours. They also need some regulars & to keep consistent hours. Having that corner dark is a blight on the entire development.

I wonder if the tenants along this block could take advantage of the rooftop park above them.
I'm not sure if it's even open (bathroom stuff), but if it is open to the public, that could make a nice rooftop cafe setting.

Not surprised. I liked the place, but their hours were bizarre. I could never count on them being open so wouldn't even try unless I happened to be walking right by the door.KCPowercat wrote: they closed for good again.

that's why the two cardinal rules of running a business are 1)post your hours and 2)never deviate from your posted hours.

So the original owner held on longer than her replacement. ![Cool 8)](./images/smilies/icon_cool.gif)

The new owners should have redone the interior as it's a cold, uncomfortable room. Needs to have a warmer feel.

agreed. it's a bad space for anything food-related anyway because you can't do outdoor seating. cordish needs to get a coffee tenant in the courtyard next to chefburger and land a non-food retailer for the savvy space. we don't need another revolving door!ignatius wrote: The new owners should have redone the interior as it's a cold, uncomfortable room. Why not, it keeps everything fresh. A business is replaced before people lose interest in it.DaveKCMO wrote: we don't need another revolving door!
I may be right. I may be wrong. But there is a lot of gray area in-between.

Too bad they closed, but frankly it wasn't very good. I tried to give Savvy multiple opportunities, but the barista always burned my espresso. I even pointed it out to the owner one day and asked him to retrain the guy. Same thing happened the next day, so I stopped going. I'd rather give my $4 for an espresso beverage to a local business, but when Starbuck's is right across the street and they never screw up, you better be on your game.

They need to pull the plug on savvy. Do a Dunkin Donuts or Red Mango at that corner. It needs new energy.
tea drops has outdoor seating, but I agree they need a good coffeehouse.DaveKCMO wrote: agreed. it's a bad space for anything food-related anyway because you can't do outdoor seating. cordish needs to get a coffee tenant in the courtyard next to chefburger and land a non-food retailer for the savvy space. we don't need another revolving door!

The problem is that Savvy has twice failed before people ever gained interest in it.aknowledgeableperson wrote: Why not, it keeps everything fresh. A business is replaced before people lose interest in it.

That place needs to be gutted and overhauled. Too cold and uninviting. Starbucks may as well take it over as it has more exposure than one across street.
