Supposedly they've agreed to a $2.8 million contract.

Good job, Lew! Hopefully this happens. And if not, we can always fall back on Tommy Tuberville.

Re: Big 12 Football 2009
I do not think KU even talked to Tuberville so the article is more than likely misleading. But there is no doubt that Harbaugh would have been the best hire for KU. However, I think Harbaugh would have left KU if offered the job at Michigan when it is available next year.

I'm fine with this hire. Harbaugh was a long shot. And he would've been gone within a few years anyway had he been successful here. No sense in him starting over at KU when he was already established at Stanford.KCPowercat wrote: phog.net in level 4 meltdown....pretty humorous. cheers hawk fans, we're all insane with jealousy over this hire.
Still funny you had to deal with that total bust, Ron Prince. How did that work out for you guys? Snyder will be gone soon too, so good luck with that. Turner Gill will surprise a lot of people. Look for KU to make some big noise in the coming years.

Hopefully MU can pick up Harbaugh next year after Pinkle is gone. I was never a big fan of his and I thing Chase Daniel saved his job at MU. I think next year will be Pinkle's meltdown year.

Re: Big 12 Football 2009
If Harbaugh didn't bolt for KU, he ain't going to MU. Besides, he just signed an extension at Stanford. I could only see Harbaugh leaving for Michigan or the NFL. This opening at KU pretty much proved that he wasn't going to leave for anywhere besides those two options, even if he was offered a huge contract as he would have been at KU.shinatoo wrote: Hopefully MU can pick up Harbaugh next year after Pinkle is gone. I think this is fantastic for NU... if Bo doesn't pan out... and Gill excels, we know who our next coach will be.

The Star is reporting that Gill "won athletic director Lew Perkins over with a detailed game plan for success"---which is exactly what Kstate officials said when they hired Prince. Evidently Prince had notebooks filled with detailed info on players and plans. Deja vu?

Pinkel has a great class of incoming recruits signed, with more to come. If he can't make a lot of noise next year with the talent he'll be working with, maybe it would be time to question his coaching abilities.shinatoo wrote: Hopefully MU can pick up Harbaugh next year after Pinkle is gone. Harbaugh would conceivably find the Mizzou job very attractive, given the load of raw talent on the team, the Tigers' recruiting dominance in the North division's largest and most recruit-rich state, and the fact that his wife is a native Missourian. I doubt that would be enough to offset the siren call of a job at Michigan, but it undoubtedly would make the Mizzou job way more appealing than the disarray he would have been burdened with at football-indifferent Kansas.
Harbaugh was offered nearly 3 million dollars to coach at Kansas and he turned it down. I don't think he would have walked away from that kind of offer unless he had some serious reservations about the program he'd be asked to turn around and/or the people he would have been reporting to.

Obviously. If a coach won't jump to KU, he's obviously not going to jump anywhere...ehhhhh.
Turner is a HOME RUN hire guys....just look at that MAC record.
