Blunt is here for another year and a half. Could be a good legacy project.

Propose it to the legislature.

The Bond Bridge was named in rsmo 227.392

I wonder if that's the remake of the "alphabet soup" of exits? Potential stimulus project?

Probably not after 1/6. Imagine it would create a whole ton of anger.

That big square building at 4th and Broadway was constructed fairly recently. I'm surprised they aren't taking down the Landmark Lofts too, since it will be an island surrounded by viaducts when the new bridge is done. Who will want to live there in basically an interstate interchange?

That's basically what they live in now but yeah seems weird to keep it up.

Can we get some stimulus dollars for this.

According to Twitter, the American Jobs Act's transportation funding will be competitive (like TIGER/BUILD):

We'll need a compelling application, but we've done well in previous rounds -- KC has received three grants from TIGER/BUILD.

There’s a 100% chance modot tries to dump their responsibility onto the Fed’s right?

Like no one thinks we’re going to get anything better?

But doesn't the state have to finance part of the project to get matching federal dollars?

Applications for 8, 60ft tall drilling rigs have been submitted to, and determined for approval by, the FAA. I'm only posting the link to one application since they're all the same.

Re-undermining of the Broadway Bridge. 2010 survey of the riverbed at Broadway Bridge

2010 survey in red. Riverbed around the Pier 2- Caisson Foundation was almost completly eroded away.

I’m assuming with this you’re trying to suggest that the bridge shouldn’t be kept as the bike/ped connection. If so, I want to point out that engineering studies like that are based around the bridge’s continued use as a traffic bridge, which is a far heavier use than people walking or biking

Riverbed scouring is a function of flow and sheering in the river bed. Not really connected with the bridge traffic.

That is really terrifying. Was anything done to try to counteract this for continued use? Has the new low cost design new bridge taken this problem into account? I know the Army Corps channeling has increased and narrowed the flow, but this is also probably inherent to the site, the deeper channel on the south approaching solid limestone being a reason for a river town being born. What causes the scouring around the caisson when it is not in the deepest part of the channel? How many submerged caissons are in the new bridge design? Would a clear span from bank to bank be safer in the long run(albeit much more expensive)?
Looks like the drilling rigs are moored over the new bridge caisson site.
