For those that do enjoy the Skinny Dip (and have forgiven New Belgium for the transgression of eliminating Loft) - it's on tap at both The Record Bar and Dark Horse Tavern.

Also tried the Delerium Tremens on tap at Grinders. Lovely beer - but beware - it's $7/Pint. Not sure if it was THAT good.

Grinders has a fantastic Mai-Ur-Bock on tap right now.

...in addition to maudite, all four blvds, welsh bitter, delerium, smithwick's, boddington's, guinness, hobgoblin, and an assortment of others.

possum trot at 75th street is great but the Boulevard Bully! Porter on tap is just awesome.

i got all the pics you will ever need of grinders. left, right, up, down, inside, outside, color, b&w, it don't matter. i got 'em. i probably got some sepia shots too. who knows. i don't!

75th street and McCoy's are probably my favorites, but the Powerplant in Parkville is really good too, and offers a little variety from the standard Hopps Co. offerings. They make a Belgian Whit in the summer that puts Boulevards ZON to shame...a great summertime beer, real refreshing after mowing the lawn! They have a great stout too.

Went there for the first time last night.  OMG.  Awesome awesome awesome place!!!  Excellent IPA...nearly as hoppy as 75th's Alpha Male and without the bite at the end.  And jumping out of my seat every time a train went by never got old.

I may have a new favorite drinking establishment after only one trip.

Did you find the food there good. They DO have great beers, but the food has been substandard every time I've gone there. Their brewmaster (if they have the same one) is a cool guy though.

As far as the trains, you were sitting within a few feet of the big derailment of a few years back. Kind of amazing that no one was hurt. And anyone looking now would never know about the derailment.

I live about a mile and a half as the crow flies from there. I never tire of hearing the trains whistle in the distance.

It was a beer-only event, as we had loaded up on Qdoba up north, after a fruitless trip to Best Buy.

I noticed a Delirium Tremens tap at McCoy's last week.  I didn't have one.  McCoy's is in timeout for me due to terrible service, fresh-from-the-dishwasher pint glasses (read: hot), and a lingering sanitizer flavor in their pitchers.

Hmm, someone open a brewpub in Rosedale, please.

I have a feeling that having anything to do with the sale of alcohol in KC is about as difficult as convincing Katheryn Shields to go legit.

boognish and I went out to the Powerplant; I didn't really like their beer at all. The wheat tasted slightly acidic and too watery. It tastes a lot like the wheat they make at McCoys. Hell, perhaps it was a bad batch.

Like others, I recommend O'Malleys - they have live music practically every evening and the Irish cream ale is fantastic. It's just a short jaunt down the way from the Powerplant (about 18 miles), for those who ride. We scooter out there every two or three weeks.

Wheat, being the worst of the craft beer styles, is not the flavor by which to judge a brewery. Breweries make wheat beer to pull in crossover people, that "don't like beer."

Give me my beer with no citrus fruit floating in it. I want it to taste like beer, not a shandy.
