boom...I woudl think so but Cordish keeps saying 2006 on the first condo tower...in time with the opening of the district (give take a couple months)....maybe it won't take nearly as long since they won't be digging out a trench for a garage.

^There are over 40,000 parking spots downtown, much more than any comparable downtown per sq. foot of office/residential space.  But this project does have some parking garages, just not on every block.

The Cordish plans at the top of this thread indicate a parking garage. Has this been taken out?

Someone managed to scale to the second floor on the outside of the old Jones building, despite the fenced barricades, and deposited graffiti on the wall facing west across from One KC Place.

progress is great, and i am so happy to see something useful go here, kind of makes me think, that if jones store would have held on to this locale a few more years, they would now be in on something great. now, if they want back in, they will have to build a new store. i guess really all of our downtown dept. stores are gone now. kind of sad, i know these buildings were now useless, but still sad.

Yes, indeed sad.  I really wish that downtown could support department stores again.  Maybe someday it will, but that would most likely be a ways off.

it takes so much foot traffic to support downtown department stores. foot traffic that generally comes with good mass transit. maybe, perhaps someday, when some of the suburban idiots that veto everything for a downtown they have nothing to do with, see it as though it needs financed, we will get good mass transit. perhaps in 08 when downtown is one of the best downtowns in america again, people will rehash the light rail debate.

From my vantage point it looks like they got to a point where they had to go into cleanup mode for a while in order to get the debris piles out of the way so that the wrecking equipment can get in.

Looks like they are indeed saving the skywalks.  I wonder how they will be incorporated into the Cordish plans?  Will all those employees in the towers be heading over to Whole Foods for lunch?  :D

Huh? I think some type of grocery store will be at the base of the new Cordish residential tower. Hopefully Trader Joe's. Not as yuppie as Whole Foods. Either is great!!! 8)

Yeah, he meant people going FROM Town Pavilion to the planned Cordish grocery store.

All that's left in Town Pavilion are about 1/4 of the fast-food offerings that were in there even as of early 2000, and the Mango Room and Fred P. Otts on the first floor.  No Einstein Bros, no Benz Deli, no bank in the Boley buildings, no Scam Goody or Hallmark on the second level.
