JE Dunn used one for their HQ in 2008. Were there any more recent?

The Power & Light apartments had a tower crane for the parking garage and addition. That was just 2-3 years ago?

I was driving south on 169 today into town and could see the new crane sticking out above the skyline...really cool to continue to see our skyline getting more filled in!

I suspect this crane will still be up when the Waddell Reed crane goes up? Is there a chance a 3rd or 4th crane could be up simultaneously (e.g., 3 light or one of the other proposed projects)? It would be great to see that many cranes up inside the loop at one time.

That crane is tight to the building next to it.

Looked like the building has gone vertical.

I haven’t seen any activity at the construction site for several days. Does anyone have an update?

Might be paused due to Corona.

Found this online last night. Date at the bottom of the rendering is July 9th, 2018, a few weeks before the project was announced/found (July 24th, 2018). I wonder if this is the design we are getting or if we are still getting the design with the glass rooftop areas. This is a simpler design but keeps the general massing intact.

Perhaps some kind of permit/inspection delay, Covid related ?

Was expecting delays but hopefully not killed. Wouldn't be surprising if they switch to residential. Looks like the developer did Depot Square apts in Boulder as well.

Interesting to think they might kill it, especially with the hole dug, concrete in place, and structure starting to rise in spots. But sometimes projects die on the vine so to speak, albeit rare in these parts recently.

Residential would be a good fit. Parking plans may become more of an issue from the proposed valet to a nearby garage, but lesser staff need for residential can have those spots taken by residents.

I hope the hotel project moves forward. Better revenue generator for the city long term that will need as much revenue as possible. I realize the travel & tourism industry is hit hard now but it should come back a bit this year and the long term should be fine. Maybe a little less business travel but not that much off. People will adjust to the new normal. Humans thrive and are at their best in the company of other humans. We are a social animal, that is at their best functioning as social creatures.

I think the small site made it hard for workers to spread out during the height of the lock down. City Scene also noted supply chain issues.

Downtown hotel occupancy wasn't all that great before COVID and now Lowes added 800 rooms. Cities will be fighting for convention biz, KC probably won't be on winning side if Chicago and Denver are desperate. Large events (Sprint Center, etc) could take a while to pick back up too. It's not likely going to be a V-shape economic recovery either, could take 10+ years.
