The membership costs at the pool are what I think are completely ridiculous. They've tiered out the costs to:
Platinum: $1,000 ($400/3 months)
Executive: $750 ($300/3 months)
Premium: $400 ($150/3 months)

I read this as meaning the platinum membership was $1,000 for the whole year or $400 for three months--presumably the busiest three months of the summer. Is is really $1,000 for three months or 3 monthly payments of $400? That's a $200 premium for the priviledge of spreading out your payments slightly.

I read that as saying that was the cost for spreading payments...why would someone pay more for just 3 months than a year membership?

It looks like it will be open only in the summer.

I am still amazed that they are charging $200 for a rather short term loan--on the platinum membership. Any CPAs on this board want to figure the interest rate?

If someone is looking at a premium membership and can't swing $400 in one payment, is this really a club that's meant for them? I can't imagine that the cosmos are going to be cheap.

WHAT WERE YOU EXPECTING? Do you also go in Mexican restaurants expecting spaetzle?

What bars do you hang out at? I will completely trash it/you if you let me know. I get off on that sort of thing...

What's "ultra" about it?  Beyond just the marketing?

on the weekends, it is $5 after 7pm, so you can go there for the bar crowd.

My trip to Consentino's last week, seeing all of the jones crowd coming in and out of the elevators/parking lot, confirmed every worst stereotype of this place I had imagined.  The silver lining I supose is that if these folks are hanging out at the pool drinking beer during the weekend days, maybe the PnL will be somewhat less douchey at night since they will all have beer/sun hangover.

Seem like normal people to me??? Pics in the ink this week confirm that...I guess I am missing the stereotyping.

Douche bags can look like you and me, like cylons, but you have to hear them speak and interact with each other to really detect the level of douche baggery. My trip on the elevator at the grocery store last saturday had more douche than I've been around since the last frat party I went to in college.

I guess perhaps we have just gotten to a point in society where hideous fake tans, fauxhawks, and giant ugly sunglasses are just manifestations of "normal" society.  I supose I just have to resign myself to living life stuck in one never-ending episode of The Hills:puke:

Fashion can produce some bad results, no doubt.

Maybe I am out of place there without those things and they snicker at me but I like it so I and others I know will continue to go...some guy's haircut isn't going to keep me away.

It's a testament to all of the different subcultures in KC, and even many different subcultures within the urban core.  Is what makes KC a dynamic city.

P&L is our Times Square - let it happen.

Jones pool attracts Ink readers -  so be it.

Not commenting on douchery/douchebaggery, however when I last went to Cosentino's, I noticed people who were clearly from the pool area (swimsuits, wet clothing) standing outside the Cosentino's doors in the garage, on a smoke break before they went back up to the pool.  I'd rather not walk through a cloud of cigarette smoke on my way in or out of the grocery store, so perhaps the Jones Pool folks, can direct their guests to a more suitable smoke break spot.

I am surprised that the Jones doesn't qualify for the patio exception?  Do they just choose to be non-smoking?

My guess is workers that want a break away from the patio/music.

I am starting to think I am a freak because I tend to like a place like jones AND a place like cigar box or grinders or quaff or manifesto....just depends on my mood.  I hate only going to one style of place all the time.
