What is interesting with the English language, and probably many others, is that there is the proper way and the popular way of talking and writing.  And, of course, many people write the way they speak.  Anyway, I really, really don't know what language we actually use here.  Most of us probably couldn't carry on a conversation with a bloke from England let alone someone using the latest slang around these parts.

E! showed Ryan Seacrest "behind the scenes" of his radio show while he was in Kansas City for American Idol. They showed him around "Kemper Stadium" and he seemed to really enjoy his catered BBQ.

Rockhurst and Blue Springs South played a football game on ESPN. They showed a bit around Blue Springs, including the new David Cook mural, and showed Whiteman Air Force Base.

Did they say that "Kemper Stadium" was in Kansas?

I didn't know Whiteman Air Force Base was in Blue Springs, Kansas.  :P

KCIR is on the SPEED channel right now!  I was watching "wrecked" and heard Kansas City, Missouri on the TV.

I didn't know KCIR was still open :)

I was flipping through channels and stopped on "Grey's Anatomy" for  a second just as a "Republic Tigers" song was playing ("Buildings and Mountains" -- great song!).  This is the best band to come out of KC in a long time in my opinion.

Agreed. I saw them warming up when I was on a pubcrawl and thought that they sounded pretty cool. The next month they were on Letterman.

I think they are destined for big stuff.  They are on tour with Travis in Europe right now...a great fit for their style and another band I like.  I am really excited for the KC music scene!

i did a search on here for "Top Gun," didn't see it but i'm sure it's been mentioned.

Anyway, "bar number 2," not the first bar "you've lost that lovin' feeling," but the "great balls of fire" bar has only state of Kansas memorabilia on the walls...e.g. state flag, license plate. When it comes in again in the final scene of the movie, there is a Kansas City poster in there as well.

That is "Kansas City Barbecue", a famous restaurant in San Diego:

I hate that place.

Not only is it some of the worst bbq I have ever had, it’s makes KC look about has hick as it could be with how it’s themed.

Plus it’s full of KU crap and only a few items for the local pro sports teams. ;)

I would give them a free photo of the KC skyline to put in that place if they would take it.

I thought a place called Kansas City BBQ would represent KC better.

The place should be called, Kansas City, Kansas BBQ or simply Kansas BBQ.

This is your chance to get them some memorabilia you like better.

That place does suck. Owner is a pretty nice guy though. Talked with him for a while when we went in there a couple of years ago. Luckily had a beer and left.

Looks like 'Lie to Me' has been renamed 'Fling' and will have it's Midwest premiere in KC at the Screenland on November 7th.

So will it open in other theaters soon after?

Actually it's Nov 14th at Screenland. Director, Producer and a couple of the actors will be in town for the opening as well. It will run at Screenland for one week Nov. 14th - 20th.

The KC Premiere is a special screening. It will be showing at a film festival in Ft. Laudredale the previous week, and according to John Stuart Muller ( Director) "we are going
theatrical this fall/winter and then releasing on DVD in early second quarter of next year."

Just found the great Max Fleescer Cartoon "Kitty From Kansas City" gets surreal toward the end. Features Rudy Vallee and a little cartoon mouse that looks oddly familiar.

And by some act of god they actually know that KC is in Missouri.
