Nu vs Washington in holiday?  Awesome ending.  Hope the worst fans in college football enjoy that dog.
Frankly, I think it sucks.  Iowa is not even ranked.

Until the love affair between the AP and SEC is over, there won't be much "fairness" or even logic in the bowl selections.  LSU and Arkansas? C'mon.  I hope SEC ges dismantled and exposed in their bowls like the way Utah ripped Alabama a couple of years back.

I'm not so sure the conference helped out Mizzou.  I think they screwed Nebraska.

Mizzou beats A&M, but A&M goes to the Cotton Bowl.

Still love seeing NU get screwed though.

I have no expectations at all.  The entire college football bowl and ranking system is out of sync with reality.  It's totally bogus in every which way.

The Bowls basically select with kisses and nudges from conference ADs, but the insight missed an opportunity.

I though the Pinstripe Bowl sounded lame at first, but now that we're actually here, it seems like a cool idea. You get to play in a unique venue, fans get to be in NYC for New Years (beats the hell out of Shreveport or Birmingham), it will probably get more media than it warrants due to being in NY - should be fun for Wildcat fans.

Yeah, I would have actually liked to see NU play Iowa in a Big 10 preview.  A re-match with Washington?... here I thought an Arizona re-match would have been bad... but this is miserable.  On the other hand, I'd argue a BCS match up with UConn is pretty pathetic as well.  This is about as bad a bowl season as I can remember.  Now all this said, at least we can watch the game without ordering the digital/sports package. ;)

Well, the Big XII placed 8 teams in bowls and KSU is going to NYC on New Year's Eve.  So, for me, this bowl season is great.

Plus, get to watch Oregon and Auburn - unquestionably the 2 best teams in NCAA.  Wisonsin v. TCU Rose Bowl should be pretty awesome too.

Yeah, just another mediocre 10 win finish... $2M bowl payout.  :)

Amen!  That's exactly how Mizzou fans feel.  Expect, our bowl payout is $3.3 million.

It's all relative.  10 wins and 2nd in the Conference is great for most schools.  But, remember, we're talking about the Black Shirts.  This isn't just some program.  This is the program.

And Taylor Martinez is essentially Herschel Walker + Joe Montana.  Certainly should have been good enough to beat OU and go to a BCS bowl game.

Oh well.

Not to mention 10 wins in what has to be about the shittiest year of football in the conference's history.

Bowl payouts are split evenly to all conference members.

Exactly.  So, it's a good thing 8 Big 12 teams are going Bowling this year.

Not really.  There are a lot of different factors which impact bowl payouts.  All member schools receive an equal base amount under the revenue-sharing plan.  However, this base amount will fluctuate for some schools, depending on prestige of bowl, travel costs, tickets sold, etc.  This year, OU will probably haul in close to $4million from the Fiesta Bowl (net will be lower because of travel costs) compared to 1-1.5million for Iowa State or KU.

Also, when KSU took 50,000 fans to the Cotton Bowl, only a small percentage of those University Sales were split amongst the Conference.  Any revenues from ticket sales above that base ticket allotment go directly and exclusively to the University.

Who are staying past this season.  Nebraska isn't getting a dime of the bowl money this year, and hasn't gotten a dime from the conference all year (and won't for the rest of the year).

Good info...where did you find it?  I was going on the big 12 conference bylaws which state all payouts are split evenly after travel costs....which is where a university gets some additional travel costs based on bowl level.

Just googled Big XII payouts.  There are a few articles scattered around about the different payouts.  Nothing from the Big XII website strangely enough.  Read a LJWorld article about KU's 4million haul from the Orange Bowl because of high ticket sales, for instance.

So, Nebraska doesn't see a dime of the money from Big 12 Bowls?
