Nothing of note just yet. Some equipment has been brought in and they're removing the fencing on the far side of the parcel.

I believe unrelated to this, but traffic in almost every direction around this intersection is down to 1 lane (looks like DST work on the parking garage/adjoining building).

Nice to see that once again the city isn’t enforcing its sidewalk ordinance. What was the point of passing that thing?

It elevated the conversation. Every variance is an open conversation at the Parking & Transportation Commission (if downtown) and Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (citywide). In this case, PTC authorized the variance for 12 months -- the first time* a variance was approved with a time limit.

*you're welcome

As I said on Twitter we need more visibility as why variances are granted and thank you Dave and this one seems pretty okay compared to other closures.

Are you sure it's not a supply drop area? It's not uncommon to do this on the street. A pallet isn't too far off from the width of a temp sidewalk

It seems they are often speedy as long as no KC developer is involved.

It must be the Burns and Mac involvement. They are 2 for 2 on fast project so far.

I didn't think there would ever be a building on that site.

I work with them on the industrial side, but I'd like to think we can bring resources to a project if the components are lined up. Ultimately, regardless of industry, project speed always depends on the client's cash flow and decision making ability...
