Re: KANROCKSAS
I agree that the name is pretty fucking terrible. Was the choice between "KANROCKSAS" and "SASNAK FEST"?

Sasnak is a much, much better name.

With the exception of The Black Angels and Best Coast, nothing really interesting added. And both of those bands will probably make it through Lawrence/KC sometime this year anyways.

Exactly. Saw both shows. And both of those bands probably work better in a club/small theater. I wouldn't be surprised if either one of them cane through in the fall.

I think every band works better in a club/small theater - compared to a speedway/festival.nilsson1941 wrote: Exactly. Saw both shows. And both of those bands probably work better in a club/small theater. I wouldn't be surprised if either one of them cane through in the fall.
Of the new bands - I would think Ween and STS9 will at least help pull some regional festival/jam band fans that can't make it to Lollapalooza, etc. At least moreso than the previous list.
If it doesn't have street-level retail, it's an abortion.

Re: KANROCKSAS
Saw a report that says they are expecting 25,000 fans, not sure if it's per day or total, but even 50,000 would be kind of small, i thought they were estimating 80-90k
Kenny Chesney might have had more people at his concert last week at Arrowhead.

Re: KANROCKSAS
I was watching a live stream online of Kanrocksas earlier today, and the crowd looked very small. Granted, it was 4pm on a Friday, so most of the concert goers probably still weren't there, but it was a pretty damn small turnout from what I saw.brewcrew1000 wrote: Saw a report that says they are expecting 25,000 fans, not sure if it's per day or total, but even 50,000 would be kind of small, i thought they were estimating 80-90k

Re: KANROCKSAS
The last few years at the music festivals I've gone to they've always given out tons of free bottles of water. Sometimes lowered the price to a $1 as well. Even still, I've seen at least one kid pass out of from heat exhaustion at each fest.
One of the really smart things is they'll do is hand out bottles of water from the stage to pass back. It's usually the insane kids who try to stand by the stage for 2 hours before a set who fail to pay attention to what their body is telling them and get hydrated.
